BURSARIES, COMMISSIONS AND GATHERINGS – CANOPY NETWORK IN ACTION

 makers - musicians - artists - writers - performers - designers - filmmakers - poets
YOU!

Apologies for the radio silence from us – we’ve been busy in the back room. But we’re back in action! Canopy are delighted to invite Forest of Dean Creatives to apply for a number of opportunities, made possible thanks to an Arts Council England Emergency Grant. The creative industries have been hit hard on both a national and local level and we’re not alone in wanting to enable more making and present our arts projects to audiences again.

Canopy is offering a range of micro-commissions and mini-bursaries to support new activity. We hope this little pot can seed new growth and encourage creatives to test out and exchange ideas during this strange time. Our team is here to help you develop new approaches to sharing work, within the constraints of social distancing. The grant has enabled us to welcome Engagement Manager Rod Maclachlan from Blakeney onto our team. Rod has put together this fantastic programme of activity, which will be supportive and fun for audiences and creatives to engage with.

Rod explains: “We’ve done our best to spread the grant to support forest creatives in a flexible way. We’re not primarily an online network, we need to meet offline too. Working within the pandemic rules, we want to talk, make plans, connect. Collaborative creative thinkers can do this, together.”

Maybe you are a writer who’d like to present your work as a video projection? A performer who’d like to make work for an online audience, or have new ideas you’d like to explore? We’d love to enable you to present publicly accessible work, we’re here to help. There are three ways you can become get involved:
  1. Apply for one of four micro-commissions - £250 per commission
  2. Pitch for a bursary – between £50-£200
  3. Join us in an online get-together

We’re updating our online presence so there are many ways you can #stayconnectedcanopy. And, as soon as we can, we’ll be meeting PROPERLY! Meanwhile, let’s keep in touch.

Carolyn & Rod are currently working an average of one day per week each for Canopy. So we don't check the CC mailbox every day.  Email us to arrange phone calls and meetings, to ensure we get to talk as soon as we can.  We'll call an open meeting as soon as is physically possible.
