Getting back to businesses

As of July 4th we can expect to see the majority of our town centre re-opening. Please do consider using the town centre as much as you can to support it through this difficult time. Social distancing guidelines are also going down to a minimum of 1m. Thankfully the stickers that we created, that were printed by the fabulous local company Media Ace (find out more about them in our 'In the Spotlight' feature below), do not say anything about 2m, so will remain current. We have decided to leave them as they are and not introduce a 1m distance, but rather let shoppers use their common sense, and invest the resources elsewhere.

Thame Town Council is continuing to monitor the town centre and is exploring further action needed to support our town centre to re-open safely and successfully. This work is being led by the Town Centre Working Group. You can see the latest version of the Action Plan on our website here
https://www.thametowncouncil.gov.uk/thame-town-centre-recovery-plan/
There is also the opportunity for you to comment and feed in your ideas and suggested changes in a form on the same page. Or you can do this on our Thame Businesses Together Basecamp - see later in the newsletter.
In the Spotlight:
Introducing Paul Gray and Ashley Ethell of Media Ace
Who are you and what drives you?
Paul and Ashley started Media Ace 10 years ago. Having been best friends for 30 years and both with long careers in the printing industry. They are driven by the ambition to continually push the boundaries of print in search of producing truly outstanding items.

Tell us about your business?
Media Ace is a full service print and production company offering print related products of all kinds. The ethos of the company is based around impeccable service and exceeding expectations, through the use of the most up-to-date production methods, while offering exceptional value to customers.  Media Ace have a wide and varied client base, including blue-chip companies such as Ralph Lauren, Bicester Village, Berkeley Homes and The White Company. In 2018 Media Ace was invited to tender against the leading print companies in the country becoming the sole contracted printer to Nuffield Health Hospital and Gyms, successfully winning the long-term contract.

What do you love about being based Thame?
Media Ace moved to Lupton Court in Thame in 2014. The attraction to Thame was to be part of the vibe of an amazing town, and the pool of incredible local people to become team members and clients of Media Ace. There is a great hub of local businesses together with the general feeling that sourcing locally and supporting other businesses in the area is a priority. Media Ace are striving to become an integral part of Thame and the community, including supporting young people from Lord Williams School in their work experience programmes.

High street funding
We have submitted a bid to South Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council to ask for some of the funding they have been provided by the government to help get high streets back up and running to be spent in Thame. If successful this funding it will make temporary amendments to the town centre to help increase customer confidence that they can return to the town centre safely. We also want to deliver a campaign to residents to encourage them back to the town centre and make sure they understand the effort that businesses have put into place to meet Covid-19 restrictions, as well as encouraging them to shop local. We have also asked SODC to explore using some of this funding to work closely with OCC to ensure that their is a joined up approach to spending this money in the best way to benefit Thame.
