Dear Friends,
This week's email coincides with the opening of Filippo Piantanida: Normal Generic Landscapes, the latest of our online viewing rooms in collaboration with Cardi Gallery.
Piantanida focuses on the visual qualities of symmetry, with specific attention and detail to lines, form and composition, seen most prominently in his early Bambini (Kids) series, where no digital manipulation was used and all symmetries were the result of careful architectural research.
On the other hand, his more recent series Maps, Fractals, and Normal Generic Landscapes create scenes through the re-assembling of multiple images. Although at first some may appear vaguely familiar, these shots ultimately blur and reject a precise time or location, and instead use the photographic lens to reveal the invisible forces of time, space and spacetime on both local and global scales.
Filippo Piantanida: Normal Generic Landscapes is open until 30 September. Click here to enter the viewing room. Please contact us for any enquiries about the works in the show or below.
