The Y's Virtual Programs for All Ages

Our virtual enrichment classes and private lessons are designed to help your child grow while in a safe environment. We offer classes that foster our core values of Respect, Honesty, Caring and Responsibility, while having fun along the way. Registration is open for July and August programs. Here is a sampling of our classes:


ARTS ENRICHMENT
AGES 3-6

  • Yoga Adventures: Come relax, express yourself in creative fun, interactive yoga with music and adventure through storytelling, yoga poses and movement. 
  • Ready, Set, Dance: Keep the beat, stamp your feet, smile, move and develop performance personality in a creative character movement class to various types of music. 
  • Lil Beatz Hip Hop: Move and groove into hip hop & funk with fun various types of age appropriate music. 
  • Creative Movement Ballet: An introduction to ballet utilizing a fun and whimsical approach. 
  • Tap It Up: Introduction to tap utilizing rhythms, beat, gross motor skills and vocabulary to begin the journey of playing your tap shoes! 

AGES 7-13

  • Audition Technique: Learn proper audition etiquette and how to put together a resume. 
  • Improv: Learn the foundations of improv through theatre games, storytelling, and character development. 
  • Hip Hop: A high energy class where students will learn a different combination each week while having fun and letting loose! 
  • Witches & Wizardry: Learn about your favorite storybook wizards while learning spells, making costumes, and playing fun games. 
  • Villain Vignettes: Who are some of your favorite villains? Explore their history and create your own characters! 
  • Freestyle: Led by a graduate from The Freestyle Love Supreme (Lin-Manuel Miranda and creators of "Hamilton), students will learn the foundations of freestyle, the history of hip hop, and how to beatbox through improv games.

SUMMER SHOWS

Rehearse, perform, and celebrate the magic of musical theatre with our summer shows via Zoom!
  • “Bugz! The Musical” Ages 5-9; There's going to be a picnic and everyone is pitchin' in...the lady bugs are in charge of proper etiquette, the army ants will handle security, the fireflies are in charge of lighting, and entertainment will be provided by the bumble bees. 
  • “The Big One-Oh! Online Edition” Ages 10-13; Charley Maplewood has never been one for parties – that would require friends, which he doesn’t have. Well, unless you count his monster friends, but they’re only imaginary.
  • “Wired” Ages 14-22; Did you ever want to stay up all night with friends to write an original play!? This is your chance and in the safety of your own home via ZOOM! 

ADULT ENRICHMENT

  • Tappy Hour (18+) This class is designed for the adult beginner or as a refresher “brush up class” for dancers.

Virtual Show & Tell and Science Day

Families are invited to a science-filled morning this Thursday, June 25. Join other children and families across the Metro Y association for some science experiments, stories, and exercises. This free event is designed for early childhood and preschool age children. It will be a great opportunity to connect with other YMCA families and for kids to build language skills! Registration required.

Join the 7 Summits Challenge on 12bursts.org. Create your own mountaineer to climb the 7 tallest mountains in the world through short activities – easy for your kids to complete themselves! Create a family account and each kid can make their own profile and mountaineer to look like them when they launch the 7 Summits Challenge.

Come and learn all about the LGBTQ+ flags during a free webinar on June 25. The webinar will be facilitated by Bianca Mayes, Health and Wellness Coordinator of Garden State Equality, and presented in collaboration with the Y and Jewish Federation of Northern NJ. RSVP required.
