I am the Economic Development Officer for Surrey Heath Borough Council and I am writing to you with details of project we are currently reviewing. I would be keen to understand, by way of a reply, if you this is something that would appeal to your business and whether you could see it helping as we begin to path the way to the new normal.
The Council are currently reviewing a project which, if successful, would create a borough-wide online business platform for 'live commerce', blending online and offline business. For those unfamiliar with live commerce it is the combination of live streaming video and online commerce. Whilst established and successful in Asia this would be the first project of it's kind in the UK and offered as a pilot by leading e-commerce brand Alibaba.
We believe that this tool will help all businesses in the borough reach new audiences and lead to more sales but we are keen to hear from you on whether you feel the same as we would only be inclined to introduce such a platform if there was support from the local business community.
I have included some links which speak to live commerce in more detail, the examples tend to focus primarily on retail but we believe the functionality would easily be applied to webinars, courses and instructional videos and the Council and it's partners can offer training and support to help get you familiar with the platform and to identify routes to grow your business.
