Back to normal in Level-1... to stay we hope!

Things are slowly getting back to normal at our two practices.
It's been really interesting hearing everyone's lockdown stories and it seems that most people quite enjoyed the world slowing down a little. The quieter roads, enjoying walking the dog in good weather and taking things a little slower.
There have been some stressful stories of essential workers and busy work-from-home demands trying to juggle busier than normal work demands with childcare and home schooling.  Eyestrain had definitely been the most common complaint since lockdown!

People's experiences of lockdown seem to have been quite binary, I've resolved to try and keep things in better balance from now on, let's see how long that lasts...
As far we are concerned continue stringent hygiene practices and have got used to the smell of methylated spirits. Please don't be offended if we ask you to continue to scan the app, or sign the contact register if your name isn't in the appointment book.
Let us hope that things stay this way, and that our borders are kept secure.

You can now book appointments online again. See you soon.
Stay safe. Be Kind.

Manuka Honey Treatment for Dry Eye

Dry eye disease is one of the most common and stubborn causes of irritable red eyes. To make matters worse, unlike most eye infections, it doesn’t get better on its own.

Why is dry eye disease so difficult to treat?

Dry Dry eye disease is most often caused by tear film instability.  This leads to a breakdown of the usually resilient tear film surface and is the cause of dry spots on the surface of the eye. This consequent tissue damage, as well as changes in the chemistry of the tears (which include an increase in the salt content of the tears) causes inflammation.

There are products on the market for the treatment of dry eyes and blepharitis and we expect to see more  soon. READ MORE.
