Last week one of my patients shared that for the last three months he has not been able to leave his room. His food is brought to him. The fellowship with others in the assisted living center is on hold. Because of hearing problems and poor vision, the phone and internet are challenging. He has no close family and if he did, they would not be allowed to visit. The COVID-19 situation was taking a toll. My heart went out to him and the many others who are becoming socially isolated in this pandemic.

People need fellowship. God recognized this when Eve was created. There is a physical benefit when one is in the presence of others. Sometimes just being there is enough. 

Christ will always be a presence in our lives. When times are tough, He will be there. In the middle of the night, He will be there. During the storms of life, He will be there. When the family is unavailable, He will be there. When the world seems awry, He will be there. Every second of every day, He will be there. We will never be alone.

In our walk through life, evil will abound. There is nothing to fear. We will be comforted. We can experience the ministry of His presence. Psalms 24 is a promise we can share as we seek to serve those who need fellowship. My patient was not alone. You will never be alone.
