Annual Meeting 2020

Thursday June 25th 6:30pm

Join us virtually!

This year we have a lot to reflect on together. Our mission to create a more sustainable city and to protect the environment for the health and safety of all is more important than ever.

Like many progressive organizations, equity and justice is a foundational value in our work. However, our advocacy and programs in the urban forest, urban farms, and urban wilds should more explicitly connect race, income, and the environment together. How do we make our organization better, and achieve our goal of working toward systemic and cultural change? Join us at this year's meeting for a conversation on racial justice and its relation to environmental work in Cambridge. In addition, we'll share about the year and the year ahead.

Thursday, June 25th, 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Join the meeting at this Zoom link

Like many organizations, funding has been a challenge this spring. We were unable to hold events such as our gala to drive donations that cover many of our day-to-day expenses. Your donation of $20 a month or more ensures we can sustain and grow our work. Please give today!

Looking forward to seeing you, and thank you in advance for your donation!

Sincerely,
Steven

#alewifeclean

Summer means more people visiting the Alewife Reservation, and that can mean more litter. Normally we would have had groups working with us through the season in an effort to keep it wild. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, we offer an alternative approach: Just grab a bag and gloves to collect trash.

If you choose to collect trash please observe safety guidelines: Maintain social distance, do not gather in groups, wear gloves, avoid sharp objects, stay away from homeless encampments, and stay out of wet areas and water (which is contaminated). No trash bags or gloves? Find ours beneath the wheelbarrow next to the Green Cambridge shed along to the bike path and adjacent to the constructed wetlands stone amphitheater. You are welcome to leave filled bags behind the shed or take home. Thank you!

Did you miss the 2nd Annual Concert for the Sycamores, held during the Stream Festival, the reimaged virtual River Festival on June 6th? Well you're in luck -- you can watch the recorded Festival here! (starts at 1hr 26mins in). Thank you to our friends at Multiverse for putting on this concert and to CCTV and the Cambridge Arts Council for making the festival happen!

Native Plant Sale!

You can get a kit of three perennial native plants from our friends at Meadowscaping for Biodiversity, a sale that benefits their Youth Environmental Entrepreneurship Program. Their experts choose sun-loving or shade-tolerant native plants that will attract pollinators and beautify your yard! Each order includes a planting guide and introductory information about the plants in your kit. If you need a garden consult or help with installation or invasive-plant removal, their students do that, too.

Pre-sale orders can be placed at this link until June 25th.

Pick up Saturday June 27th at 52 Raleigh Road in Belmont (near Cushing Square).
