I'm NOT writing as fast as I can

But I'm still writing. And for the next six weeks, I'll be sending updates on my progress directly to anyone who sponsors me in the Clarion West Write-a-thon. Depending on how much you donate in tax-deductible dollars to this very worthy 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization, I'm also offering query, story, or novel critiques.

Visit my WAT profile page and scroll down to Fundraising Goals for details.

(Disclosure: I attended the Clarion West six-week summer workshop in 2014.)

Thursday Night Readings

Starting this week, I'll be hosting a monthly reading series aboard the airship Nebula, broadcast live over the internet. Come hear Elsa Sjunneson and James Beamon read from their work and answer your questions on June 25th at 5:00PM Pacific Time.

Any and all registered attendees of the 2020 Nebula Conference Online are welcome; if you didn't attend in May, you can register now and get access to the archived content plus ongoing virtual events like these all year round.

NOTA BENE: Black writers can get their SFWA membership and conference registration fees waived for the next year. Please contact SFWA for more information.

(Disclosure: I am the current Secretary of the Board for SFWA, a 501(c)(3) public charity.)

Locus Awards in Pandemic Mode

This coming weekend would have been the Locus Awards Weekend in Seattle, and like so many of this year's conventions, they've gracefully transformed from an in-person gathering to a collection of online events.

The virtual awards ceremony will happen on Saturday at 3PM Pacific, still emceed by the inimitable Connie Willis, and your membership also includes a six-month digital subscription to the magazine and your choice of Locus T-shirt. We won't be able to see each other there, but as a community, we'll at least be able to share this experience from wherever each of us is sheltering in place.

(Disclosure: my first novel Waypoint Kangaroo was a Locus Awards Finalist in 2017.)
