Swimming NSW Return to Competition plan

Swimming NSW welcomes the news that competitive sport can resume from 1 July. While we recognise that pool managers have interpreted the easing of restrictions differently and are managing the return-to-swimming risk in different ways, we are confident that all clubs will be back to full pool access over the coming months. With this in mind, Swimming NSW has been working with its various stakeholders to map out a fair and safe return to competition in NSW.

Sport NSW has created posters that clubs and operators can print out and use in their venues. Click on the links below to access these posters.
SNSW AGM - additional information
On Tuesday (24 June), all area and club secretaries were provided with additional information (via email) about SNSW's upcoming Annual General Meeting. This included links to the following papers:
  • 2020 Annual General Meeting Notice
  • Agenda for the 55th Annual General Meeting
  • Minutes from the 54th Annual General Meeting (held 27th July 2019)
  • 2019/2020 Swimming NSW Annual Report
  • Delegate Nomination Form (must be completed and returned by 5 pm, Friday 17 July 2020)
All of these documents, along with additional information about how to access the Zoom meeting, can be found at the below link. If you would like a hard copy of any of the above documents, please contact the Swimming NSW Office.

We encourage all attendees to read the documents ahead of the meeting. Please note, only registered club delegates will be eligible to attend.

CANCELLED: 2020 State Teams Swimming Championships
Due to the current COVID-19 landscape and the existing restraints still in place regarding the gathering of large numbers of people, Swimming Australia, in consultation with member organisations, has made the decision to cancel the 2020 State Teams Championships competition scheduled for October.

SNSW social media intern opportunity
Swimming NSW is on the lookout for a Social Media Intern who can help create buzz and excitement and build member engagement at our events. Ideally, we are looking for someone from within our community who has an intimate understanding of competitive swimming and the content our audience can engage with.

SNSW Swim Shop re-opening
The Swimming NSW Swim Shop at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre will re-open from 1 July 2020 with the following reduced hours:
Mon-Sat: 8 am - 11 am

We are also excited to announce that our Swim Shop will soon be online. Stay tuned for our official launch.
REMINDER: Vote for the SNSW Board of Directors
Online voting for the Swimming NSW Board of Directors is open. Voting instructions and login details have been sent out to all 2020-21 affiliated Clubs & Areas. Where a Club or Area is unable to access the established voting website, applications can be made to the Chief Executive Officer for an alternative balloting system (such as postal).

Please contact Mark Heathcote, CEO, Swimming NSW if your Club or Area has not received its voting login details or if you have any questions about the vote.

Voting will remain open until Thursday 23rd July 2020 at 12 pm (noon).

Swim Central tips for clubs
Affiliation reminder – Clubs are reminded to purchase their affiliation with Swimming NSW through Swim Central. Here is how to do this, and here are the quick and easy Terms & Conditions that are to be adhered to. Being unaffiliated means that participants - whether swimmers, non-swimmers, coaches or other - will be unable to purchase memberships at the back end of this season, and moving forward into next season, until such time that the club has become affiliated.

Last week we introduced Phase One of Two of the new and improved ‘making a purchase’ process in Swim Central. Phase two, to be released by this time next week, will be the new look of the pages, and the actual purchase process at the end of the workflow – then all will be complete. Check it out now if you get a chance!
