An Independence Day Celebration!

In summers past I've been okay with sending out my newsletters every other month, and I almost decided to put this one off till July, but I have some exciting news to share that just won't wait!

On July 4th from 4-7 p.m. I will be sitting outside Salida's The Book Haven to autograph books, including my latest (which I was unable to "launch" appropriately because of COVID-19)--DARK EBB: GRIM TALES

Of course, I'm probably (certainly) more excited by this news than you are, but why? Well, as you may have heard, all of the BIG events I was looking forward to (Denver Pop Culture Con, MileHi Con, Georgetown Christmas Market...) were canceled, again because of COVID-19, so I've been going through reader interaction withdrawal. Authors everywhere have suffered from this withdrawal and the inability to host live book launches for their new releases.

Book I of Linda's new Sasquatch series!

The Book Haven currently has all of my books (in case you'd like to purchase them ahead of time) as well as the first two books in author Linda Ditchkus's unique Sasquatch series! Linda will also be available to autograph her book--same time, same place! We will have tables outside the book store and will wear masks and have hand sanitizer on site, so please, Please, PLEASE come chat with us about our work and about anything you'd like to know about the writing and publishing process!

And before I move on, I'd like to thank all who supported me on Patreon this past year (+). After much consideration, I have given up my Patreon platform. To the following supporters, I am forever thankful for your encouragement and belief in my work:
Mary Wilson
Donna Baier Stein
Charlene McDade
Susan and Jim Russo
Jake McHargue
Stephanie R. Sorensen
Joanne Bowman
Erin Sue Grantham
Mary Jelf
Carol Shaughnessy
Judy Cole
Alex Graham

So, have you seen my latest excuse for not writing as much as I should be writing lately? If you haven't yet, please subscribe to my COVID Duck Chronicles on YouTube! These little videos (ummm...there are 157 already! I may be just a little obsessed with these Khaki Campbell ducklings) will take you from my bed on the morning of my anticipated duckling arrival at the Post Office through to today (and tomorrow, and tomorrow!) as they have grown from tiny fuzz-balls to nearly full-feathered ducks! You might learn a few things, but mostly, I hope you will be entertained. You will perhaps come to understand my obsession!

Today, by the way, is day 36!

If you have friends who might enjoy my content, would you ask them to subscribe to my newsletter and/or YouTube channel? Please and thank you!

NO TOUCHING!!!

:)

Laurel

Upcoming (and maybe some past) Events!

  • July 4, from 4-7 p.m.: The Book Haven Author Signing with Linda Ditchkus and me! Visit us outside their new location at 109 N. F Street in Salida. That section of F Street is blocked to vehicle traffic, so be prepared to park away and walk! Should be lots of "things" happening that evening!

  • Chaffee County Writers Exchange (CCWE) membership is only $20/year, and the benefits are truly worthwhile! Check out their site and consider joining. I'm the new Membership Chairperson this year, so let me know if you have any questions!
  • Also consider joining Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA), a wonderful organization with resources to help writers and authors at every stage of their professional development.
So many talented creators, so little . . . you know.

Have you checked out my weekly podcast Alligator Preserves lately? There are unique short stories (fiction I create and narrate every month) and interviews and insights galore!
Here's my latest creepy microfiction story narration: Choices
I will include it in my next volume of DARK EBB: GRIM TALES along with more sketches for each story as I included in my first volume (available on Amazon and at The Book Haven in Salida now...I'll be there to autograph on July 4th)
