Timber Ridge Camp Offers Virtual Camp July 5-18

It is with saddened hearts that we announce there will be no in-person summer camp this year at Timber Ridge Camp. Due to Covid-19 and the continued risk of infection, this decision was made out of an abundance of caution. While our staff at TRC is not happy with this decision, we have decided to be as positive as possible and conduct a virtual camp this summer.

TRC Virtual Camp will take place July 5-18. Each week, there will be camp council and campfire, as well as a variety of virtual camp opportunities. Some areas will include activities that our campers can join in on at home. Many of the most loved features of camp will be highlighted, including our Friday night special dedication campfire.

We will be bringing a live campfire experience to several locations around the state. Be sure to check Facebook, Instagram, and www.trcamp.org<http://www.trcamp.org for locations and times. Also, be sure to check these media sites for fun activities, for an opportunity to post campy things you are doing this summer, and to order TRC t-shirts.

  • New sewage treatment system
Here is the list of our current projects:
  • New flooring in all cabins

  • New bunks in boys’ cabins
  • New mattresses in boys' cabins
  • New siding and deck on the Ranger’s house
  • New siding on the front of the cafeteria facing the lake
  • Tower to provide easier access to our Zipline
  • Signage on our TRC mountain bike and lake trail

The next time you visit Timber Ridge Camp, you will see a huge difference! We want to send a big thank you to Dean Whitlow, our camp manager, Ricky McLamb, our camp ranger, and the small team of summer camp staff who have been working on these projects.

Fred & Linda Troxell, Retirement

Pastor Fred Troxell and his wife Linda will be retiring from pastoral ministry on June 30, after 28 years in the Indiana Conference.  They have faithfully served in the Muncie, Vincennes, Glendale, and Irvington districts, with over 17 years in the Irvington and Shelbyville churches alone. Pastor Troxell has shown excellent leadership, organization, and outreach abilities and God has richly blessed his ministry. I live in his district and know much about the community outreach there, having received many invitations to Irvington’s meetings.

Fred and Linda, you are much loved and respected by your members, and we thank you for your faithful service.  Blessings in your retirement years.

THE PRIMES' TESTIMONY
Cynthia Prime

It was my night to remember. I had just called the hospital for the fourth time in one evening to try to get an update on the condition of my husband Philip. On this last call they connected me with a nurse or physician’s assistant in charge of his care. She began reading numbers to me from his chart that didn't make sense to me, but I remember distinctly her telling me that  she had worked at the hospital for many years and had cared for many similar patients. She said, “Someone in his condition is not likely to survive. I know that is not what you want to hear, but that is the way it is.”

I simply said, “ I'm going to pray!“ and  put the phone down. I called Pastor Ramon Ulangca very distraught and told him that I didn’t care who he contacted, just ask for prayer on Phillip’s behalf. He spent the entire night in prayer with me, calling every two hours or so. I contacted my friends in Canada, my ministry partner, Linda Schultz, who wept with me and prayed all night along with her husband. People in South Africa, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, the US, were praying, and it is at that time that I experienced the amazing uplifting power of prayer. I was at home where no one could visit because I was under self-quarantine.

Phillip was wasting away, his temperatures up to 104. I prayed that God would save me from illness as well. I did not even have a thermometer; I couldn't find one anywhere in the city. There were no gloves, no masks; there was nothing. I had to lean on God alone and the kindness of friends, family, and church members who mailed or left care packages outside our door. We come to times in our lives when there is only God, and it is in these difficult crucible moments that we truly discover that prayer does work, and God is enough!

My COVID-19 Experience
Phillip Prime

In so many ways the truth of this story is more about Cynthia’s love and devotion, the prayer and effort of our families, church family and friends. I was the one totally dependent on her for I was often oblivious to my own needs or unable to address them even if I knew them. I was admitted to the hospital and spent one week there. The one thing I felt was extreme tiredness, weakness, and no interest in food. I just wanted to be left alone. I heard the warnings often, “Mr. Prime, you will die if you do not eat.”  My thought was if I eat, I would die and if I do not eat, I would die. It’s a matter of dying with a full or empty stomach. If I die with an empty stomach, I would have at least saved myself the effort of eating. At home I prayed between sips to have the strength and desire for the next one. Thank God for a caring and supportive staff at the hospital and praying family, friends, and a praying church family and their support for Cynthia.

I am especially thankful for my wife Cynthia who has been so attentive to all my needs and in such a loving way. The Lord quickly restored my health and improved upon it. The first visit of the occupational and physical therapist was also the last. I did not need them, they said. Surprisingly, my blood sugar and blood pressure are now normal, and medication is not needed anymore. Isn’t God good. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me”
Psalms 23: 4.

Churches Reopen with Safe Ways to Worship
Evansville First held an outdoor Sabbath Service. We were blessed with a nice sunny day. Our Lord gave us cover with a cloud during the sermon, and the cloud left almost as soon as the sermon was over. We are grateful for all of our church members that came out to worship our Lord and Savior on such a beautiful Sabbath. We are considering doing it again.

Members of the Evansville First SDA Church chose to go out into the community where protests were scheduled to happen. We had the privilege Sabbath afternoon  to pray  for and with some of our local police officers and members of the National Guard. We also extended our prayers for members of the community who would be involved with the protests.

Hispanic Churches

The Ellettsville Church decided to give Camp Timber Ridge 10K+ donation of sound equipment for the open air building.  About three years ago when we purchased the Ellettsville building, the Lord provided everything including paper towels and silverware. There were also included two working sound systems.  Since our church will not be planning to build for about seven years, we decided to donate the main sound system to Timber Ridge Camp. There were some that were opposed and wanted to keep it in storage; however, I hope in seven years Jesus will have come, and I did not want to be selfish with the gifts he freely gave to our church for his work. There are seven speakers, two amplifiers, two graphic equilizers, equipment case, two tape decks and a 24-channel mixing board.

Acts 2:46-47 (NIV)

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, ( v 46)

Praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people; and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved (v 47)

Lord God of all,

Thank you for making it possible for your people to come together in worship, again, in your Sanctuary.
We are your chosen ones who enjoy the pleasure of each other’s company eating together with joy in our hearts.

Praise to you God for we rejoice in your favor.

We know that you came to seek and save the lost of this world.

Many will come seeking you, we pray, as we put on the armor of God, to be ready to do our part to help finish the work and go home and live with you forever.

Amen.
