Argyle Gardens is Open:
Celebrate with us!

Our new deeply affordable housing development, Argyle Gardens, is open for low-income Portlanders and those formerly experiencing homelessness. This innovative studio and single room occupancy (SRO) residence has achieved rents under $300 per month. During this time of global hardship, we're pleased to provide new units of housing for those who need it most.

We're hosting a special virtual ribbon cutting on Friday, June 26th from 11:00 - 11:30 AM
to celebrate our community of supporters who helped bring this project to fruition.  The program will feature a virtual tour, testimonials from residents and an informative Q&A about the nuts and bolts of bringing modular design to your hometown.

An Inclusive, Affordable Housing Model for Single Adults

Argyle Gardens is located in North Portland's Kenton neighborhood and features an innovative, modular design that offers the opportunity to live independently while engaging in community-building activities and supportive services. A co-housing approach, small unit sizes, and modular construction contributed to achieving development costs that were 31% lower than typical affordable housing projects.

The project was inspired by the needs of people emerging out of homelessness. Designed by Holst Architecture and constructed by Walsh Construction and Mods PDX, Argyle Gardens contemplates the needs of low-income renters, including entry-level workers, students, and single adults nearing or in retirement. Additionally, Argyle Gardens' modular approach works within the existing Portland zoning code and can be adapted to any area that allows duplexes or additional density.

Collaborative Storytelling:
a Partnership with Portland State University

We partnered with students completing their capstone project at Portland State University to tell the story of Argyle Gardens. Check out their video highlighting the process of envisioning this new housing development and meet some of the residents who are benefiting from deeply affordable rents and innovative design. You'll even hear from a few folks that will be present for Friday's virtual celebration!
