From Dean Andreas
Dear Friends,

This weekend sees our Patronal Festival, a time when we give thanks for the example of the apostles Peter and Paul, and their encouragement to make known the Good News to all people, the world over. We would have loved to welcome you back to St Paul’s in person, but the current increase in Covid19 community transmission means that we have to wait a little longer before we open the Cathedral to our members again. On Sunday, I will be dedicating a new plaque that has been embedded in our Altar Platform: it’s made from limestone from Jerusalem. Tune into the 8am or 10am services to hear the story of how this stone from the Holy Land has come to St Paul’s.

Following the 10am service, we will be meeting for our Annual General Meeting of Members of the Electoral Roll, an opportunity to give thanks for the accomplishments of the past year and to take stock. This year, the meeting will be taking place via zoom, and I look forward to seeing you online. Please note that if you would like to raise a matter of Cathedral Business by the meeting, you will need to give advance notice by emailing welcome@stpaulscathedral.org.au

Thank you for your kind feedback on last week’s kids’ talk. I have been using the time-machine function on my laptop again, and am zooming with our Patron Saint this week. Be sure to check what he has to tell us about how we can bring people to meet Jesus Christ.

Blessings to you and yours this Patronal Festival weekend,

Dean Andreas.

Opening for Sunday Worship
With great reluctance we have decided not to reopen the Cathedral this coming Sunday. We felt very strongly that, with the current increase of COVID-19 cases in communities in which our congregants and staff live we should not encourage staff and members to travel across various local government areas to be present at St Paul’s at this time. We will instead extend our current livestream service schedule and fellowship pattern for further month. You can read more of the Dean's announcement here: https://cathedral.org.au/…/delay-of-re-opening-for-public-…/

Changes to Weekday Services
The Cathedral Choir will be on holidays following the 28th June  - we thank them for their contribution to the music at our Live-streamed Services over the last few months. There will be no weeknight Evening Services for the next two weeks. From Tuesday 14th July, we will stream Choral Evensong on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5.10pm for all to join from home.
Planned Giving 2020/2021
It is that season of the year when we think about planned giving for the next 12 months. Envelopes for 2020/2021 will be available for collection as soon as services resume. Please let Dorothea know (derowse1@bigpond.com) if you will be requiring a box. I would, however, urge everyone who is currently taking envelopes to think again about setting up a direct debit on your Bank account or Credit card. You have absolute control; and it does ensure a regular flow of money to the Cathedral. Please also give prayer and thought to increasing the amount you have been giving. Once Federal financial support such as JobKeeper is phased out Cathedral finances will be very vulnerable indeed.
