Northern Territory Border Restrictions to be Lifted!

The Northern Territory will end its mandatory coronavirus quarantine
arrangements to all states and territories from 12:01am on Friday 17 July 2020

The NT is the first jurisdiction in Australia to have officially eradicated coronavirus. The decision to end mandatory quarantine means
visitors will not need to self-isolate for 14 days after entering the NT.
GET SET FOR THE BUILD-UP
Arnhem Land Barra Lodge will recommence guided fishing operations
from mid-September 2020. This coincides with the start of the amazing Build-up season in the Top End. It's when the big female barra and smaller males congregate at river mouths to breed. The months of late September, October, November are the lead-up to the Wet Season, and that gets the saltwater barra all fired up too. During the prolific Build-up, its not unusual for boats to catch more than 100 barra per day, and the bluewater also goes off with glassed-out seas and both pelagic and reef fish on the chew.
Len Lanzafame managed to join the Barra Lodge Metre Club with this solid 108cm barra from the 2020 Runoff prior to the imposition of coronavirus lockdowns. Big barra like this are regular encounters during the Build-up.

ARNHEM LAND BARRAMUNDI LODGE 2020 UPDATE

Like many other tourism businesses, the Arnhem Land Barra Lodge had to suspend operations in late March due to the introduction of Northern Territory border entry restrictions and the local bio-security closures in the case of Aboriginal lands. There were a few lucky anglers that made it to the Barra Lodge ahead of the lock-down who all enjoyed some fabulous Runoff barra fishing action during the brief period that the Lodge was operating.
We are expecting the Lodge's pristine, remote Arnhem Land waters to produce awesome barra and bluewater fishing during the Build-up when the fishing season kicks off again.
If you want to catch your first barra, set a new PB, add to your species count, catch a cricket score or shrug off the lock-down blues, the Barra Lodge has the lot and more.

There are some prime spots still available during our Build-up peak season - late September, October and November - so come and experience what is widely acclaimed as Australia's finest barramundi fishing.
There are some great dates still available from late September through October and November, so jump on board and call Roger Sinclair, our Lodge booking and tour co-ordinator.

Flashback: Russell Tait recently emailed a snapshot of his metery barra. Russell landed a 104cm barra at the very end of the 2019 season in November last year.
Here are some happy snaps from guests who visited the Barra Lodge pre-covid19 lock-down.
Jigging soft plastics on the inshore reefs can yield a variety of  species. This time its a school-size black jewfish.
It's not just blokes who visit the Barra Lodge to get amongst 'em!
Threadfin salmon also patrol Arnhem Land's mangrove-lined creeks. They will readily take a well-presented barra lure and provide fine sport once hooked.
Tom Gordon shows of a nice barra while a remnant wet season storm gathers in the background.
Early morning hookup - a great way to start your day in Arnhem land.
Juvenile Queensland groper will readily intercept a barra lure.
This slab-sided queenfish was one of many caught in an early-morning session chucking poppers.
Another typical Arnhem Land barra accompanied by two "UFOs" in the background.
"Getting the shot": a trevally poses with angler before release.
Tom Gordon made it to the Barra Lodge just before the coronavirus lock-down took effect and was stoked with his fly-caught barramundi.
A master of ambush - the mangrove jack.

BOOK  FOR THE BUILD-UP AND 2021 RUNOFF

With domestic travel restrictions to be lifted as of 17 July 2020, now is the perfect time to book your Build-up fishing trip.
The Barra Lodge will commence it's Build-up fishing season in mid-September and it will continue through October and November.
The 2021 Runoff season will commence in late February and continue until early May.

The Build-up and Runoff periods are the peak fishing periods at the Barra Lodge with cricket-score numbers of barra commonly encountered, not to mention a large variety of other lure-munching estuarine species.
The bluewater fishing is also spectacular, and at times world-class. You can expect explosive popper sessions on big queenies, wild work-outs on various trevally species, smoking drags from runaway Spanish mackerel, lock-down battles with big black jewfish or a hot bite on thumping golden snapper, coral trout, bluebone and other tasty reef fish.

The Arnhem Land Barra Lodge looks forward to offering you the trip of a lifetime.

The fishing experience was wonderful. Dylan was an excellent guide, gets excited as much as we do when a nice fish has been caught.
Because of my age, nearly 70, I probably won't return, this trip was memorable.
One more item ticked off my bucket list - thank you. Terry Clonan

An absolutely top class fishing experience in the most luxurious accommodation with food almost better than the fishing and first class service! John Carmody

The trip was fantastic, the lodge is great, the food was brilliant and the view from the lodge at sunset is just beautiful.

I wanted to stay another 4 days. Scott Simmons

The fishing blew my mind and was way better than I'd expected. This was in a time where apparently it was tough going due to the water temp. If this is was tough going I'd love to be there when it was going off!!

This was my first fishing experience and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Barramundi Lodge. The staff were excellent and very easy to get along with. My bag got left in Melbourne and Dave and the team went out of their way to find me suitable clothing to wear on the first fishing day. The hospitality and catering were first class.
