A Note from Executive Director, Pam French

Even with the change and uncertainty that has filled our lives these past five months two things have remained constant – your love of booksellers and comic retailers and your advocacy for those in need.

As we have been reminded, life does not slow down and "regular emergencies" continue to happen even during a pandemic. This past week you've helped a family with funeral expenses and another with a grant to help with major dental work. Both in addition to what we now are calling COVID grants. These COVID grants are helping families make it through the month.

We continue to be humbled by each of you. Book and comic lovers continue to come together to support the Foundation in extraordinary ways, and we will soon have some very exciting news to share.

From fantastic fundraising events (thanks Ann, Jeff, and Peter!) to new programs, Binc is changing and growing so we can help as many in need as possible.

Many thanks for all your support.
Stay tuned for more news soon!

Welcome New Volunteer Committee Members!

Binc is your Foundation and we are excited to welcome new committee members to our volunteer committees this year.

JANET WEBSTER JONES (Program Committee), the daughter of a librarian, is a retired educator from the Detroit Public Schools, where she spent a 40-year career. She has been in the bookselling business since 1989. Her foray into bookselling started while teaching a class about an Egyptian study tour she'd taken. Photo credit: Ifoma Stubbs

CATHY BERNER (Development & Communication Committee), told Binc, "Isaac Fitzgerald recently said that, 'booksellers give the gift of making sense of the world.' I'm honored to do that and I'm excited to support my fellow booksellers through the amazing work Binc does."

JOHANNA HYNES (Program Committee), told Binc, "It is not an exaggeration to say that everything good in my adult life has its roots in the book business. Having the honor of working with Binc feels like a way to honor that as well as help the people and community that means so much to me."

A note from Todd on why he chose to work with Binc: "This is a cause that is important to me because bookstores and comic retailers are so vital to the comic industry, we need them as much as they need us. Your support makes a huge difference in the lives of comic retailers and bookstore employees who need support to keep selling comics, novels and all the memorabilia we love. Thank you!"
