Book Study: Finding Jesus in the Chaos of Everyday Life
Date and Time TBD
This group is specifically geared towards moms (though all are welcome) with little ones who hunger for a more intimate relationship with Jesus. But how do we make that choice given the demands of daily, hectic life? Anchoring the conversation on the book by Joanna Weaver, Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World, we’ll focus on the importance of stopping to spend quality time with Jesus verses constantly striving for perfection in the midst of everyday busy-ness. The goal is to have fun, draw closer to the Lord, learn some practical strategies, and support one another in our spiritual and everyday lives. We’ll meet virtually weekly/bi-weekly at a time that works best for participants. Please contact Jessie Goodwin if you’re interested.

Book Study: All are Welcome
The Gospels are full of Jesus welcoming everyone, particularly people society put on the outside of acceptability. Jesus' admonition to his followers, then and now, was to stand with everyone and to take care of everyone in need. Where do we as individuals and as a faith community need to grow to really be living up to that commandment? Some ELCA pastors and teachers who have been on the outside themselves have written insightful, challenging books about their experience.
Please join us for a moderated virtual book group to discuss the ideas in these books. We will start with Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S. by Lenny Duncan. The church has copies of the book available for purchase for $6.36. We will create a Facebook group open to all who care to join. We will pose questions raised by the book and see where our discussion takes us. Our hope is that the virtual format will give people plenty of time to consider each other's thoughts and add their own.
To participate in the group, join the All are Welcome Book Study Facebook Page.
