I’ve noticed that “Curing cancer through VHL” seems to be a political, as well as a medical or scientific, message to raise awareness and funds for biomedical VHL research.
From VHL Alliance Newsletter Spring 2020 article by Executive Director, Ilene Sussman (an interesting article):
In the U.S., “We encourage you to help us advocate for federal dollars to expand VHL scientific research. Contact Ilene at ilene.sussman@ vhl.org to learn how you can help”. For example, advocate and convince U.S. Congress, Senate and House of Representatives, that “finding a treatment and cure for VHL is a key to treating and curing many other forms of cancer” and to get VHL specifically included in the “Cancer Research Program”.
In Canada, organizations or charities do similar advocacy. For example, Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD) for rare diseases in general.
