Dear Community Leader,

Whether we've had the chance to personally connect or not in the past while, I sincerely hope this newsletter finds you and yours well.

Since our last newsletter, all Vantage Point activities have gone fully digital. It's surreal to recall that only short months ago, we were just testing virtual learning for communities beyond the Lower Mainland. Now, we are convening and delivering learning opportunities and services online almost daily!

Due to how fast-paced and responsive our work has been in the past three months, one of the ways we pivoted was to focus on more timely communications highlighting sector-wide resources and efforts requiring collaboration.

This newsletter "revival" is dedicated to you as we enter recovery - perhaps even an ongoing rebuilding endeavour for our sector. As you read, I hope you find pride in that you belong in this sector, as well as inspiration for a more robust not-for-profit sector in BC!

Together in recovery and beyond,
Joyce Lin
Provincial Outreach Coordinator

Highlight: Virtual Sector Development

In June, together with our partners: First Credit Union in Powell River and in the Okanagan - Valley First Credit Union, Okanagan Foundation, and the City of Kelowna - we delivered two capacity building projects. Our partners made these opportunities accessible to their local community and they also ensure this work is done collaboratively in a community-centered approach!

Not-for-Profit: Thriving in Community was a series of 4 skill-building workshops for 195 Powell River community members who are supporting various not-for-profits as board members, staff, and volunteers.

Dimensions of Success: Consultants Session was part one of two Lifecycles workshops designed as part of the BESTI Program launching in 2021. Fourteen consultants joined Dr. Susan Kenny Stevens to learn how to apply the Lifecycles model to their work of supporting not-for-profits in the Okanagan.

Summer Virtual Learning Opportunities

July 22, 10AM-11AM: Free webinar - Engaging Skilled Volunteers
July 30, 9AM-11AM: Board Fundamentals Critical Role of the Board Chair
August 6, 10AM-11AM: Free webinar - Closing the Doors with Grace
August 11, 9:30AM-11:30AM: Advocacy & Government Relations
August 20, 9AM-11AM: Human Resources Conflict and Challenging Conversations

Over the summer, we will check in with our provincial contacts to better understand the needs of the sector in different regions and we look forward to offering more relevant supports. Please do not hesitate to contact us and share your perspective on how we can strengthen BC's not-for-profit sector together.

Government Relations Opportunities

Building upon the No Immunity report and online sector convening in the past 3 months, we recently completed our BC Budget 2021 submission activities by sending our written submission as well as making a virtual presentation to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services. Now until July 21, there is the opportunity to influence BC's recovery by providing feedback to BC's Recovery Plan
