One thing that Covid-19 has highlighted is that gardening has no borders. We are all finding solace in our personal green space, wherever we are in the world.
To help families keep busy in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq while refugee and IDP (internally displaced persons) camps are locked down, we have created a library of children’s activities. And because our materials are now free to download on our website, you too can get involved...
Lenny Lemon's Gardening Activities
Join ‘Lenny Lemon’ for some fun gardening activities to enjoy at home or school. There are eleven activities to enjoy making, including a pressed flower frame, sunflower pot people and origami seed packets. Suitable for ages 3+.
Our thanks go to the Royal Horticultural Society for allowing us to adapt a selection of their resources for gardeners and families living in refugee and IDP communities.
This 15-page activity book is packed full of fun activities to keep children busy while we stay at home. It includes writing and drawing activities – many with a gardening theme, such as ‘I spy with my little eye’ (identifying items in your garden and at home), ‘what grows in your garden’ diary and much more. Suitable for ages 3+.
We are truly moved by your generous support of our emergency Seed Appeal. Your donations of seed to support people living in refugee and IDP camps under Covid-19 curfews means they can continue to grow food and flowers for now and for the future. Gardener to gardener, thank you 💚💛
Help spread the word about our Seed Appeal
Tell friends and family about how you are supporting our emergency Seed Appeal on social media with our ready-made graphics. Alternatively, print these posters at home and pin up on your allotment or garden club noticeboard, community hub or window. We have two designs for you to choose from.
Each week we continue to celebrate home gardens with our Virtual Home Garden Competition 2020. The winners across seven refugee and IDP camps all receive a lemon tree and seeds. Take a look at the beautifully tended gardens, full of ingenuity, creativity and love on our online galleries.
We're calling on gardeners everywhere to support people living in refugee and IDP camps who are desperate to plant food and flowers at their home shelters.
🌿 Donate directly to the appeal online.
🌿 Send us any spare seed for distribution in refugee and IDP camps. Email info@lemontreetrust.org for a UK or USA postal address.
