Springing Into Summer and Life Together as THE Hollaways :)

Getting Married and The Past Few Months

Myself and Stephanie were married in March as planned… kinda. That is we planned to get married in March and we did! But everything certainly didn't go as planned. A lot changed in just the few days before our wedding, from having it as anticipated with so many friends and family, to having it a day early (due to stay at home orders) with just a few. We are sad to not have been able to share it with many, yet we are so grateful for the few who were able to be there in person and through technology. As things seemed to change almost hourly in the days before the wedding, we talked and prayed a lot about what our goals were and why we wanted to still have the wedding in March. The day was beautiful and we were blessed by many, it certainly makes for a great story if anything. Our heart was to glorify the Lord with our decision and with the covenant we were to make, and in the end to be together. *We are not going to be able to have our reception in Washington in June as planned, but we look forward to celebrating with friends and family here in Bolivar and back in Washington at later dates. Through it all we are glad that we are married, it has been a blessing each day and I am thrilled to be on this journey with my wonderful Bride.

We are excited to continue with our time in Bolivar, at SOAR, and the involvement we have in the community here. Now that we have a home together we are excited to have a place to invite people into and use in ministry in our community. We look forward to what the Lord has for us next and desire to spend our time together, where he has us now, to continually pour into those we have around us, and to prepare ourselves for wherever he leads us.

Missions Aviation Training at SOAR
Since the events of the wedding and then the lock down state of the world shortly after, my flight training has slowed down in the last few months. In the last few weeks however I have been able to do several flight lessons and have gotten a few big requirements for my training accomplished. I now continue to work closer towards taking my tests for my Instrument rating.

This is a picture of the Mississippi River, somewhere near where Kentucky, Illinois and Missouri all come close together.

Earlier in the month I did a long flight to complete some of my time requirements in our Piper Arrow, and to get a long distance flight in for a requirement of the commercial pilots license. On this flight we flew from Bolivar Mo, to Tennessee, then Kentucky and then another airport up near Saint Louis Mo, before we headed back home. The whole flight was over 600 miles and took over 5 and a half hours. It was a blast though! Well worth getting up at 5am on a Saturday :)

Working in the shop has not slowed down in this time, there are many airplanes that still need annual inspections and regular maintenance events. August will be the completion of my 30th month here (Crazy!) which means I will be eligible to take my tests for my mechanics license soon! In the last few months I have really looked back and realized all I have learned. It is amazing for me to think that 28 months ago I moved here knowing next to nothing of the aviation world. Now I feel I have learned so much. Yet in learning so much I continually find that there is so much more to learn ahead!

Working on Installing Vortex Generators on the leading edge of the wing. It was a fun project on a beautiful airplane!
Life in Bolivar
We just finished serving at our church’s first ever drive in VBS and though it looked very different due to COVID-19 the gospel was shared with many families in our community. Through the last few months we have also become very familiar (as I'm sure a lot of you have) with ZOOM. It has really been a great tool to stay connected with the High School small groups that Stephanie and I help lead, as well as staying connected with other groups and KLIFE leaders. It sure isn't like being together, but it is a huge blessing just to see and talk to others, and to have the opportunities to be intentional in bible study with our KLIFE kids. Our time in ZOOM has really helped us appreciate meeting together in person. As Missouri is transitioning a little bit closer to normal we are thankful for things we used to take for granted. Through the summer we will continue to serve in KLIFE and as greeters at our Church on Sundays. It has been wonderful to be able to serve as a married couple.
Our End of the year Zoom With our Fellow KLIFE leaders

For us the last few months have required a great deal of flexibility, grace and reliance on the Lord and His will to be done, as I'm sure it has for everyone else. Through all the events in our world this year I am constantly reminded of how much I need the Lord and how much the world needs Him, and I am challenged to live out 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” It is a continual reminder of all I have to be thankful for, and that I have a God I know I can give thanks to in all my circumstances.

If you would be praying for and with us

-For me and Stephanie as we start our new “ together Life”, for continued guidance from mentors, for grace, forgiveness and patience for each other.

-Stephanie Is currently working at our church in the office, as an assistant to some of the ministers. She has the desire to teach in the fall and has been searching and applying for a place to do that. Please pray for us as she looks for where the right place is for her next year, whether that be where she is now or somewhere else.

-My flight training and maintenance training to continue to go well, for my continued diligence in my studies and my desire to do my best in all things.

-Guidance for us as we continue to seek what the Lord has instore for us, and remain “all in” with the opportunities we have where we are now.

-That we would be bold and active in our faith with the opportunities the Lord gives us daily to show His love to others.

We love you all, and are so thankful for your prayers, encouragement, and partnership as we follow the Lord in this journey . You are all such a huge part of helping us be here now, and even in our ability to look towards what is to come next. We are so excited to be on this journey together!

Much love,

The Hollaways
