University of Memphis to Offer an Education Pipeline for All Learners

The University of Memphis will soon become a pipeline connecting all levels of education, from infant development to post-doctoral studies.

We are proud and excited to have begun planning and development for a new University High School after receiving a $100,000 grant from NewSchools Venture Funds. With an entrepreneurial focus, the high school will emphasize dual enrollment and college/career preparation. The curriculum will incorporate project-based learning with an emphasis on the skills employers are seeking in the next generation of the workforce. Students will collaborate closely with campus and community partners and entrepreneurs to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.

The addition of a high school will round out our exceptional list of University Schools, each of which provides a dynamic educational experience that inspires and encourages our future generations. The University Schools umbrella currently includes the longstanding Lipman Early Learning & Research Center; Blue Ribbon-designated Campus School; University Middle, which will welcome its second incoming class this fall; a newly launched partnership with the Harwood Center for children with special needs; and a state-of-the-art infant development facility scheduled to break ground this winter in partnership with Porter-Leath.

Additionally, we recently broke ground for the new Madison Academic High School at our UofM Lambuth campus in Jackson, Tenn. This school is set to begin classes in fall 2021, and will provide Madison Academic students opportunity for dual enrollment and access to many UofM Lambuth facilities.

We look forward to adding a University High School to this impressive list as we continue to provide educational experiences for future Tigers that are Driven by Doing.
