William Morris is regarded as one of the greatest designers and most significant figures of the Arts and Crafts movement; believing that everyone has the right to a beautiful house. Perhaps his most famous quote is "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."
Our Morris Medley Block-of-the-Month Programme provides all the fabrics to complete the quilt top and binding for this 101" square quilt. Starting in February 2021, the fabrics are supplied in four instalments, February, April, July, and October. Each instalment includes the fabrics and instructions to complete a section of the quilt with finishing instructions in the final instalment. There are two colourways to choose from, Navy (above) and Aqua (below).
This quilt is based on 10" blocks and Marilyn Foreman, designer of the quilt, gives more information about the quilts in the video below. Please note that two of the fabrics used in the Aqua quilt are no longer available and are substituted with William Morris fabrics of a similar colour.
The smaller, 65" square quilt that Marilyn mentions in the video is not available as a block-of-the-month option, but can be purchased as a complete kit in either the Navy or Aqua colourways, images shown below. The quilt is based on 6" blocks with a finished size of 65" (1.65m). Both kits include all the fabric for the quilt top and binding (backing not included) plus the pattern booklet and are priced £154.95.
There was a time when we could reorder fabrics with a degree of confidence and certainty, but the events of this year mean the future is less predictable. Normally we would have released these quilts with the arrival of the collection, but in order to ensure we have enough fabric we are making them available to pre-order for delivery in November/December. If you would like to make any of these quilts please order your kit now: all orders must be received by Tuesday 4th August. You will not be charged until the kit is despatched to you.

Love pink? Then join us in this new block-of-the-day sampler quilt starting this October. Moda have created this 64" x 76" sampler quilt below using their popular Grunge collection. You can pre-order the Stitch Pink Sampler pack for delivery in September and then each day in October we will email you the instructions for one block. Our pack includes all the fabrics you need for the blocks plus binding for the quilt. The Stitch Pink fabric pack is priced £99.95. Pre-orders must be placed by the end of July but you will not be charged until it is despatched to you. An email address is required for participation in this block-of-the-day programme, the patterns are not available in print.
These designs can be used in any way you wish: for a bag, a cushion, or stitch multiples together to make a wall hanging, quilt, table or bed runner - the choice is yours! Examples of each design are shown below.
Pre-cuts are such a great way to acquire a wide range of designs and colours for patchwork and with so many quilt designs available for 5" squares, 2-1/2" strips (Jelly Rolls) and 10" squares (Layer Cakes) you can create a themed quilt with very little wastage.
Bali Pops and Poppys are Hoffman’s version of the Jelly Roll using their high quality Bali Batiks. The packs comprise strips cut to 2-1/2" wide by the fabric width (approx. 110cm) with 40 strips per pack for the Pops and 20 strips for the smaller Poppys. We now have all the packs above back in stock, but there will be no more now until January next year so if you have a project in mind don’t delay!
At just £29.95 for 40, 2-1/2" strips these designs rolls from Stof are excellent value. Choose from Monochrome (black, white and red), Lights (prints on white, ivory and cream), Pastels or, the latest addition, Shadow Play (a texture print in bold colours), above right. Available while stocks last.
And while we are on the subject of pre-cuts, we have a new collection from Christopher Wilson-Tate called Regency Romance. Many of Christopher’s English Georgian and Regency period quilts contain designs dating from 1770 to 1820, designs that have been faithfully reproduced for Regancy Romance. Reminiscent of the romantic era of Jane Austen, the original quilt that inspired this collection is a faded floral English chintz patchwork from the Regency period. Available in 5" Charm, 2-1/2" Jelly Roll and 10" Layer Cake formats.
Regency Romance will blend perfectly with the Jane Austen fabrics that are due to arrive later this month. We have two kits available to pre-order that are due in August, details below.
This beautiful coverlet, often referred to as a quilt, was made by Jane Austen, her sister Cassandra and their mother. It is a medallion quilt with a large central motif cut as a diamond, with a design of birds and a basket of flowers. This is surrounded by a panel of 249 smaller diamonds joined by spotted sashing. The outer edge, 11 inches deep, is made of over 2500 tiny diamonds (supplied as four border panels in the kit). There are at least 64 fabrics in the quilt, a mix of dress and furnishing cottons.
The Jane Austen Coverlet Kit includes pattern, fabric, and acrylic template for the quilt top and binding and is presented in a lovely, keepsake Jane Austen box, priced £209.95. Backing fabric can be purchased separately. The finished coverlet size is approximately 80" x 100".
There is also a coordinating Jane Austen Pillow Cover Kit available. The kit to make the 20" x 20" pillow includes the pattern and fabric for pillow top and back and is presented in a keepsake box, priced £59.95.
The instructions include five paper templates for creating the clamshell blocks, shown below, which are then pieced together in rows. Curved piecing can be tricky so we would not recommend this kit for beginners. We would however, recommend the Curvemaster presser foot that makes piecing curves so much easier (you don’t have to pin!), but unfortunately we won’t have any more stock until the end of August.
A gorgeous turtle panel print is the focus of this small collection. It is available as a 36" x 42" panel and is also used to great effect in the centre of this 50" x 56-1/2" quilt below (the panel is the section with the navy inner border). Our kit includes the panel and other coordinates required to complete the quilt top and binding plus instructions. It’s a straightforward quilt for a beginner or if you are looking for a quick project.
Journey to the stars! The Nebula Block-of-the-Month programme will allow to create this kaleidoscopic quilt centre set against a beautiful, radiating background in pastel tones. The quilt uses two rulers, the Hex N More and the Super Sidekick ruler to create 9 unique blocks, each used twice in the quilt centre.. The strip piecing method used with these rulers means there are no tricky Y-seams to deal with. Purchase of the rulers is not essential as paper templates are included within the pattern.
78 fabrics are used to complete the quilt centre. A further six fabrics are used to make the background setting blocks.
The Block-of-the-Month programme begins in February 2021 with two further instalments in March and June.
The first instalment includes the complete pattern plus fabrics for blocks 1 - 4. The March package includes fabrics for blocks 5 - 9 and then the background and binding fabrics (plus optional backing fabric) follow in June.
There are 3 size options: Large Lap (78" x 90"), Queen (97" x 96") and King (111" x 108"). Sufficient fabrics are included for the Lap and Queen (extra background fabrics will be left over if you make the Lap quilt). If you want to make the King size you will need to purchase the King Upgrade package.

The backing requirements depend on the quilt size you intend to make.
