Beste lid van de NKWP / Dear member of the NKWP:
 
Het Bestuur van de NKWP heeft op 11 juni en 10 juli vergaderingen gehouden (per Skype) en willen u via deze newsletter van recent nieuws op de hoogte brengen.
 
Voorbereiding enquête leden
Zoals in een eerder newsletter was aangegeven zijn we bezig met de voorbereiding van een korte enquête naar de leden met de vraag wat ze van de NKWP verwachten. In deze enquête willen we uiteenzetten wat leden van de NKWP verwachten, of wij onze doelstellingen en activiteiten goed doen en wat de NKWP zou kunnen verbeteren. Ook willen wij inventariseren welke andere coördinatie rol de NKWP zou kunnen vervullen (bijvoorbeeld, samenwerking politicologie onderwijsprogramma’s in Nederland) en voor welke uitdagingen politicologen zich geplaatst zien (zoals werkdruk, loopbaanvooruitzichten, verengelsing curriculum, onderzoek-onderwijs balans, internationalisering) om te bepalen waar de NKWP wellicht bij kan helpen om de situatie te verbeteren? Wij plannen de enquête aan het eind van de zomer te versturen.
 
Betaling ledencontributie
De penningmeester zal binnenkort een betalingsherinnering aan de leden sturen.
 
Website: Plaatsen van vacatures en banen
We hebben een nieuwe rubriek toegevoegd op onze website met vacatures en banen (PhD posities, postdocs, reguliere en kortdurige wetenschappelijke posities) van leden van de NKWP en bij de NKWP aangesloten universiteiten. Gezocht: Co-hoofdredacteur Politics of the Low Countries
Politics of the Low Countries (PLC, https://www.elevenjournals.com/tijdschrift/PLC/2020/1) is op zoek naar een co-hoofdredacteur die samen met een Belgische collega de dagelijkse leiding van het tijdschrift in handen wil nemen vanaf 1 januari 2021. Kandidaten voor de functie zijn werkzaam als politicoloog aan een Nederlandse universiteit. De redactie van het tijdschrift moedigt iedereen aan om te solliciteren. Kandidaturen van personen uit ondervertegenwoordigde groepen zijn daarom bijzonder welkom.
De hoofdredacteurs zijn verantwoordelijk voor de inhoud van PLC, de organisatie van het reviewproces, de leiding van de redactieraad, de contacten met de uitgever en de verdere internationale uitbouw van het tijdschrift. Deze taken kunnen door de hoofdredacteurs onder elkaar verdeeld worden. Van de hoofdredacteurs wordt verwacht dat ze tevens een redactioneel assistent leveren. Daarvoor is een beperkte vergoeding mogelijk.
Kandidaten kunnen voor 15 augustus contact opnemen met de huidige hoofdredacteur (nicolas.bouteca@ugent.be). Ook voor verdere vragen omtrent de functie kan u daar terecht.
 
Acta Politica
Acta Politica is het officiële tijdschrift van de Nederlandse Kring voor de Wetenschap der Politiek. Het tijdschrift publiceert ook boek recensies. Middels deze nieuwsbrief wilden we u hier nogmaals op attenderen. Het tijdschrift recenseert boeken van alle deelvelden van politicologie (bijvoorbeeld, internationale betrekkingen, vergelijkende politiek, politieke filosofie, bestuurskunde, politieke psychologie, politieke communicatie, Nederlandse politiek, gender studies, et cetera)
We werken met een aantal criteria. De boeken zouden moeten geschreven zijn door
-Belgische of Nederlandse auteur(s)
-zijn geschreven door auteurs die verbonden zijn aan Belgische/Nederlandse universiteiten of onderzoeksinstellingen
-betreffen Belgische of Nederlandse politiek, beleid, of staatsbestel.
 
Op deze wijze streven we ernaar om bekendheid te geven aan de onderzoeksresultaten voor en door onderzoekers van de lage landen. Als u voldoet aan het bovenstaand profile, of u heeft vragen hierover, dan kunt u contact opnemen met Femke Bakker (f.e.bakker@fsw.leidenuniv.nl) or Tim Mickler (t.a.mickler@fsw.leidenuniv.nl).
 
Ten slotte, we hebben zojuist de 2019 Impact Factor ontvangen voor Acta Politica en die is iets gestegen. De 2018 impact factor (IF) was 1.125, terwijl de 2019 IF is gestegen naar 1.185. Dit is geweldig nieuws: complimenten voor de redactie.
 
Politicologenetmaal
Het 2020 politicologenetmaal staat nog steeds ingepland voor zaterdag 3 oktober. Eind van de zomer wordt besloten of deze door kan gaan in verband met de Corona maatregelen. De meest recente informatie zal u kunnen vinden op onze webpagina en als er een verandering is, zullen we ook weer een nieuwsbrief rondsturen.

The NKWP Board held meetings on 11 June and 10 July (via Skype) and would like to inform you of recent news via this newsletter.
 
Survey to the members
As stated in a previous newsletter, we are preparing a survey of the members. Our goal is to ask members explicitly what they would want the NKWP to do. In this survey we want to solicit views on what members expect of the NKWP, whether we are doing our activities well and what the NKWP could improve. We also would like to make an inventory of what other coordination role the NKWP might fulfill (for example, cooperation in political science education programs in the Netherlands) and the challenges faced by political scientists (such as, work pressure, career prospects, increased use of English in the curriculum, balance between research and teaching, internationalization) to determine where the NKWP might help with any current challenges that are felt across political scientists through the country. We expect to send out the survey towards the end of summer.
 
Membership dues
The treasurer will send a payment reminder to members soon.
 
Website: Posting vacancies and jobs
We have added a new section on our website to advertise vacancies and jobs (PhD positions, postdocs, regular and short scientific positions). Members of the NKWP and universities affiliated with the NKWP may take advantage of this place for appropriate postings. Vacancy: Co-editor in chief Politics of the Low Countries
Politics of the Low Countries (PLC, https://www.elevenjournals.com/tijdschrift/PLC/2020/1) is looking for a co-editor who wants to take charge of the daily management of the journal together with a Belgian colleague from 1 January 2021. Candidates need to hold as a political scientist at a Dutch university. The journal's editorial staff encourages all suitable candidates to apply; candidates from underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
 
The editors-in-chief are responsible for the content of the PLC, the organization of the review process, the management of the editorial board, the contacts with the publisher and the further international development of the journal. These tasks can be shared among the editors-in-chief. The editors-in-chief are also expected to provide an editorial assistant. A modest financial contribution is earmarked for this purpose.
 
Interested candidates may contact the current editor-in-chief (nicolas.bouteca@ugent.be) for further questions about the position. Applications are due by 15 August 2020.
 
Acta Politica
Acta Politica is the official journal of the Dutch Association for Political Science. The journal also publishes book reviews. In this newsletter we would like to draw your attention to this feature of the journal. The journal reviews books from all fields of political science (for example, international relations, comparative politics, political philosophy, public administration, political psychology, political communication, Dutch politics, gender studies, etc.)
We adopt a number of criteria.
 
The books should be written by
- Belgian or Dutch author (s)
- written by author(s) who are affiliated with Belgian / Dutch universities or research institutions
- subject matter needs to concern Belgian or Dutch politics, policy, or government.
 
By publishing book reviews we seek to disseminate research results for and by researchers from the low countries. If you meet the above profile, or if you have any questions about the book reviews section, please contact Femke Bakker (f.e.bakker@fsw.leidenuniv.nl) or Tim Mickler (t.a.mickler@fsw.leidenuniv.nl).
 
Last but not least, we just received the 2019 Impact Factor for Acta Politica and it has slightly improved: the 2018 impact factor (IF) was 1,125, while the 2019 IF increased to 1,185. This is great news: compliments to the editors.
 
Politicologen Etmaal
 
The 2020 Politicologenetmaal is still scheduled for Saturday, 3 October. At the end of the summer it will be decided whether this event can indeed take place given the then-existing Corona measures. We will make sure to post the most recent information on our website and, if there is a change, we will also send out a newsletter.
