Getting Unstuck 2020: Day 2
"Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean." —Ryunosuke Satoro

Dear friends,

We love Getting Unstuck because it is simultaneously individual and collective. Individually, we each take the time to explore a creative idea through code. Collectively, we share our projects, ask each other questions, and express enthusiasm and appreciation. In Getting Unstuck this year, we wanted to support our individual and collective learning with a new visualization tool, which you can find on the Getting Unstuck website.

With this tool, developed in collaboration with our phenomenal undergraduate researchers Josh and Amy, you'll be able to review the key computational concepts we were exploring in our daily prompt, examine a code excerpt from your own project, record how much time you worked on your project and how you felt about the work, explore code excerpts from others' projects, and see aggregate statistics about that day's studio. For example, for Day 1, you can see that there were:

We hope that this will be an engaging and generative way of deepening understanding of your own and others' projects. This is the first time that anyone is seeing or using this tool, so please send any feedback (bug reports, wishes, or stars) to us via email!

But now for today's creative work! On Day 2 of Getting Unstuck, we'll be experimenting with keyboard input.

Create
Create a project where a user can control a sprite using the keyboard. (Remember, if you get stuck, find inspiration and support in the Getting Unstuck Facebook group, on Twitter at #GettingUnstuck, or in our collection of Getting Unstuck strategies.)

Share
Add your Scratch project to this studio to share how you approached today's activity. Then, check out and comment on others' projects in the studio!

Reflect
Take a moment for a written reflection on your creative process in the Notes and Credits section of your project. How did you approach today's prompt? What would you do next, if you had more time?

Happy making!
Karen + Paulina

P.S. Did you miss the previous days? Check out the prompts archive—it's never too late to start!

P.P.S. If you explore, create, share, and reflect on all 10 activities, we'll mail you a physical Getting Unstuck sticker pack!
