Each year, we offer a wide range of engaging art classes for people of all ages and experience levels, including summer camps for children and teens.  This year, we’re bringing you the same creative and quality educational experiences – online!

Rainbows, Ice Cream, & Happiness

with Kimberly Blackstock

10am - 12pm | Mon - Fri

This camp is all about creating paintings inspired by the things in life that make our hearts sing! Students will explore acrylic painting while developing their technical skills. They will learn how to make an array of yummy colours with a limited palette and explore different painting surfaces and applications.

Creating Clay Artifacts

with Ratna Ghandi

9:30am - 11:30am | Mon - Fri

Clay has a therapeutic quality that helps children calm down and increases their attention span. Working with clay helps them develop their motor skills, self-expression and problem solving skills. Using tools and hand building techniques along with their imagination and creativity, students will hand-mould their own clay artifacts.

Build Your Own Journal

with Patricia Morris

2pm - 4pm | Mon - Thu

Using a variety of materials--envelopes, cards, photographs, magazines, stickers, stamps, etc.--students will glue a journal together out of envelopes. We'll make mini journals to put in the envelope pockets and we'll add extra pockets! We'll make tags, note cards, secret writing spots--all different and fun things to make a journal that's personal to each participant.

Drawing and Cartooning

with Shohre Shirazi

3pm - 4pm | Mon - Fri

In this 5 day camp, children will learn the basics of drawing cartoon and realistic drawing. This program helps you learn proportion, facial expression, creating action and drama, perspective and colour.

Teens - You Can Draw

If you are new to drawing or if you always wanted to draw but secretly think you can’t, this series is for you!  Join in these fun, informative and creative sessions where we will explore all kinds of ways to draw.

Playing with Magical Clay

with Olga Andrienko

1pm - 3pm | Tue - Fri

Handmade pottery lessons prepared specially for children. Each day will focus on new pottery technique such as pinching, coiling, slab work, sculpting and decorating through texturing and stamping. Learning these techniques will help children take their ideas from imagination to realty through the creation of their own personal pieces.

Adult Clay Handbuilding

with Pauline Doyle

Online | July 26 - Aug 30 | Sun | 1pm - 3pm
Even though we don’t have the big studio to work in, there is still a lot we can create with our clay at home. With this in mind, we will focus on hand work, building hollow, coiling, decorating and refining our projects . Participants will create small slab forms and dishes, rattles, figurines/sculptures, plus cylindrical forms like vases and jars with lids.

With a passion for arts instruction, our teachers are leaders in their field and commit themselves to creating diverse learning experiences, sharing their creative skills and inspiring students of all ages. Members of the Port Moody Arts Centre Society are invited to attend our AGM (Annual General meeting) virtually on Wednesday July 29th at 6:30pm.  The Zoom link and agenda will be sent out to all current members. Membership benefits include the right to vote in board elections, register in our online Artist Directory (can you hyperlink this) and support our non-profit society.
