On Friday night just gone the Boaties had their annual awards normally held in Albany after the Albany Surf Craft Challenge, which was cancelled this year due to Covid 19.
The proud winner this year went to Chantell Mansell with Greg Stewart runner up boatie of the year. Well done to you both as the award is about what you do both in and out of the boats.
As well as the awards presented we had the announcement that our long serving Boat Captain Murray Geneff was stepping down. Murray has served as captain for 13 years of the boats and during that time has kept our boats and equipment in top order and this is much appreciated by both our rowers as well as our club board. Thanks to Murray for a job well done.
Now that things are starting to get back to some normality the Boats will stare to work towards next season. Anyone wishing to join the Group contact myself (Watto) on 0419 471 470 and I will get you started on the right path.

2020 Sorrento Annual Awards Night
A big congratulations to our Annual Award Winners for Sorrento this year!!
We will present the awards to the winners on the 17/7/2020 at 5pm at Sorrento Surf Club Function Hall. Everyone is invited!! We will also be handing out the club champion awards and medals for under 14 and over on this nigth too so please make an effort to come down.
We are doing an early presentation because SLSWA are live streaming their awards night on the same night at 6pm. We will have this on the big screen for everyone to watch after we have presented our awards.
Below are the details for the SLSWA Awards Night online.
This years event will be presented via an online ceremony on 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟭𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆, 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝟲𝗽𝗺.
We’ll have MC Simon Beaumont taking us through all the finalists and winners as we reminisce on the past season, so mark the date in your calendar and contact your club to find out how they might be celebrating the evening.

Patrol Strategy Workshop – Saturday 25th July 9am
What is the future for Patrols at Sorrento? What do we do well, what could we do better?
Do you want to have a say in how we structure our patrols in the future?
Although training numbers are up and we have a large number of new SRC and Bronze members coming through, our attendance rates are at an all time low.
We are planning on holding a Patrol Strategy Workshop on Saturday 25th July starting at 9am to discuss all things patrols and value everyone’s input.

Changerooms
We have had alot of members not following the 16 people in the changerooms rule over the weekend.
Please note, that if we cant stick to the rules then we will need to close them again.
For the safety of our members, please follow the below rules when using the changerooms.
All changerooms are limited to 16 people (this includes parents and kids)
Showers are limited to 3 mins ONLY. This is so we can get everyone in to have a shower and out of the changerooms as fast as we can.
If you come in and see 16 people in the shower, please wait out the front until someone comes out.
Parents, please keep an eye on your kids in the changerooms and make sure you are helping them stick to the rules.

Annual General Meeting
Just a reminder that our AGM is coming up. If you would like to apply for any of the positions, you need to fill the below form and send back to admin@sorrentoslsc.org.au 14 days before the AGM.

TIME: 5:30pm Registrations with a 7pm Start
WHERE: The Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club
Your attendance will be appreciated as we induct the Board of Directors and office bearers for the 2020/21 season.
Please ensure that if you want to receive the Annual Report, Financials and Elect Officer Bearers at this AGM you are required to be a financial member for the upcoming season.
Voting rights at the AGM shall be restricted to those18 years and over, Life Members, Financial Long Service Members, Active Reserve, Active Members, Active 15 -18yrs Members, Associate Members and Award Members who hold officer or a position that are entitled to vote.
A reminder that proxy voting will not be accepted at the AGM.
Please note that all club elected office positions for the 2020/21 season will be declared vacant and are therefore open for nomination.
Should you wish to apply for any of these positions please complete the Nomination form which is found on the club website and needs to be submitted to the Business and Marketing Director on admin@sorrentoslsc.org.au at least 14 days prior to the AGM. Where no nominations are received in accordance, the chairperson of the AGM will call for nominations from the floor of the meeting to fill the vacancies.
Should nominations still not be forthcoming, the vacancy(s) shall be declared and handed to the incoming Board of Management for action.
In accordance with the clubs constitution Para 3. 3.1 Elected Positions: the officers and the club shall consist of: Patron, Vice-Patron(s), President, Immediate Past President, Club Services Director, Life Saving Director, Assistant Life Saving Officer, Business and Marketing Director, Finance Director, Competition Director, Junior Activities Director, Assistant Junior Activities Officer, Club Development Director, Education Officer, Patrol Officer, Registrar, Youth Development Officer, Hon. Solicitor Medical Advisers, Hon. Auditor, Constitution Committee (3) and Life Member Committee (3).
