Year 9 English lessons on Google Classroom
Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, and most importantly I hope you and your families are well.

Since June 1st 2020, all of the GCSE English Home Learning has been published on Google Classroom and on the school website prior to this. We have attempted to strike a balance between introducing new content and recapping topics already taught to prepare students for their GCSE exams.  The records from Google Classroom (and evidence of work sent to me personally) indicate that your son / daughter has not engaged or has engaged in very few lessons to date.  I totally appreciate the difficult circumstances that some of you must be under and the purpose of this is not to add to any existing anxiety levels but rather outline the support on offer.

At present the exam content for GCSE English Language and Literature has not been reduced, which means that if students do not cover the content of these lessons we will have less time than usual to revisit it

However, it is not too late!

A full guide on how to sign up to Google classroom can be found here including videos to follow: http://sjhcsc.co.uk/students/homework/google-classroom-tutorial

If after looking at this guidance a student still can’t log on or have forgotten their password, then please email: techsupport@sjhcsc.co.uk

Students can contact me through the classroom and if you have any issues that are English related you can email me at any time: d.beynon@sjhcsc.co.uk

I fully appreciate that logging into a classroom and seeing several weeks of lessons that have been ignored can be intimidating and overwhelming; however, it is never too late to catch up and start engaging.  If your son or daughter hasn’t done anything or has done very little to date, I suggest that the following structure is followed:
  1. They start with first lesson for year 9 (week1) and work through a lesson every week (catching up on as a many as possible before the summer break).  This is because the sequence of lessons relies upon the knowledge building sequentially week on week so it would be confusing to start mid-way through the lessons.
If there is anything I can do please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks,

Mrs D. Beynon,
Year 9 English Teacher.
