NEWS!
SOCIAL INVESTMENT FUND

We are delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Social Investment Fund to purchase new IT equipment.  During the Covid-19 lockdown it became apparent that our old, donated equipment wasn't entirely suitable to support the local, autism community through this pandemic.  Using online platforms such as Jitsi appealed to some of our clients and we will therefore continue using this form of contact with those individuals who prefer this.
BBC CHILDREN IN NEED

BBC Children in Need have kindly awarded us an additional grant to employ a part-time Support Worker for 9 hours a week to work with children over the next 6 months.  This has helped with the transition from lockdown to the new 'normal' for those children who have found this difficult.
CHRISTMAS LOTTERY GRANT

We are grateful to the Association of Guernsey Charities for confirming that Autism Guernsey has been awarded a grant from the Christmas Lottery to deliver workshops to parents and professionals for the Sleep Programme and Attention Autism Programme.  These will be delivered later in the year.

PWC kindly chose Autism Guernsey as their monthly recipient to receive £200 for the Charity, which we are extremely grateful for.
Pete Sirett has written a humourous novel following the exploits of a diverse group of friends seeking to get Albert George Le Brun elected to the government.  The proceeds of the sale of this book are being kindly donated to Autism Guernsey.

Pete presented us with a cheque for £850 from the sale of the books to date..

If you are interested in purchasing a book for £5 please contact Autism Guernsey on 232879.  They make great Christmas or Birthday presents.
OTHER GENEROUS DONATIONS RECEIVED
We have also received numerous other donations for which we are extremely grateful.  Without donations such as these we would be unable to remain sustainable as we receive no States funding.

TRAINING & COURSES
AN INTRODUCTION TO CONFLICT RESOLUTION & PHYSICAL INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES COURSE

Heath Cogher, one of our Wellbeing & Enablement Officers, delivered the course to our staff and other third sectors. The course included identifying the causes of conflict, recognising the early indicators of conflict and de-escalation strategies aimed at addressing conflict, understanding the legal framework if/when using physical interventions and practising low level breakaway and physical intervention techniques.

This course was undertaken as a precautionary measure.
HOW CAN YOU HELP SUPPORT AUTISM GUERNSEY

Lottery

The primary aim of the Autism Guernsey Lottery  is to ensure the sustainability of the Charity. Autism Guernsey offers a range of support in the local community including an Outreach Service where staff give one-to-one help to individuals and families. Demand outstrips our capacity and therefore we have a significant waiting list with referrals for support being received on a daily basis.

The charity receives no financial support from the States and has to rely on fundraising and charitable donations to continue the valuable work within the community.

Donation

If you would like to make a donation, please either send us a cheque made payable to Autism Guernsey or you can request bank details for a bank transfer from Autism Guernsey at T: 232879 or office@autismguernsey.org.gg.  We are also happy to accept cash donations.

Raffle Prizes

A significant part of our fundraising events is raffles and we are always looking for raffle prizes, however small.  If you have anything you would like to donate, please contact Autism Guernsey on office@autismguernsey.org.gg

KIND WORDS!
"Thank you for taking  the time to do this, it was great to see XX so engrossed in something, he really enjoyed it and is already talking about next week!"

"Autism Guernsey has offered my children an environment where they don’t have to mask their behaviour like they do at school and with other clubs.

I would be in a very different family dynamic if it wasn’t for the support and advice I have received from Autism Guernsey.  It goes beyond the effect it has on me as I have been able to communicate more effectively about my children to family and friends based on the parenting skills I have learnt through Katie and her team.

Both My children feel completely at home at AG’s after school club - they have both remarked upon it to me.  For them they can breathe a huge sigh of relief on a Tuesday afternoon and always come home full of energy and happiness.  It makes a true and valuable difference to their lives.

I have nothing but positive comments to make - it’s such a supportive organisation. As a parent I have been able to turn to Katie with the complex load of a single mother of 3 girls, 2 of which have spectrum issues.  Typically, Katie makes time to hear me and also never forgets the impact things have on my ‘neuro  typical’ child.

The courses I have attended that AG have organised have been of the highest standard and really have been a lifeline for me."

"Many thanks, both girls have really enjoyed it (and my other daughter had a go out of shot last week too)!"

“Autism Guernsey has given my children the freedom and confidence to be themselves in a safe, happy and caring environment. They have access to many activities including arts & crafts, climbing walls, golf and kayaking. They have also helped my husband and I by alleviating any worries or anxieties we had about leaving them at club. It is impossible to express the positive change they have made to all our lives.”
