Managing COVID-19 Cases in Pharmacy Settings
On Tuesday 7th July the local NHSE&I team sent out an email detailing the processes to be followed if a member of pharmacy staff is identified as being postive for COVID-19. Please ensure that you have read this email (check your NHS mailbox!)
In summary:
- One person amongst your pharmacy team being confirmed as having COVID-19 following a lab test is classed as a case. If this is unlikely to disrupt your levels of service you do not need to notify the NHSE&I team but you must notify Public Health England of all cases in a healthcare setting, following the SOP (see below).
- For the East Midlands Public Health team, telephone: 0344 2254 524, press the option for the Health Protection Team
- If one person tests positive (a case), and this will disrupt your levels of service, you will need to:
- Having two or more members of your pharmacy team being confirmed as having COVID-19 following a lab test is classed as an outbreak.
