This week we are particularly praying for those living on Loddon Drive, Station Rd, the High Street, Choseley Rd and those living and working in the Mount Care Home.

Dear <<First Name>>,

In Mark 12:41-44 we read about the Lord Jesus sitting down opposite the place where offerings were put in the Temple collection vessels, which were thirteen brass treasury chests. They were called trumpets because they were shaped like inverted horns.

We are told that some rich people put in large amounts. Meanwhile, a poor widow put in two coins, worth only a fraction of a penny: it was all she had to live on. Jesus watched all that was happening, and her action did not go unnoticed.

I find it very encouraging at this strange time that nothing we are, or that we have, is hidden from God. Although, what a challenge that poor widow is to us as her sacrifice although small was total. As Hannah prayed, when she dedicated Samuel to the LORD “the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed” (1 Samuel 2:3).

Will you keep this reality before you in all the current uncertainty? Are we giving wholeheartedly to the Lord’s work? Not just financially but in time and effort?

With my prayers for you and your families,

John Cook
