"Representing as a Woman"

We are thrilled to bring to you the Australian Local Government Women's Association WA branch's new exciting video series- 'Representing as a Woman'.

The series aims to encourage more women to run for Local Government by hearing from current female Elected Members about their experiences as sitting member for the Councils/ Shires.

We will bring you views from young and old, metro and regional councils and would love to hear your thoughts on the series and if there are any other questions you would like answered about being a Councillor in general, or serving as a female Councillor specifically.

If you would like to be interviewed, please email us algwawa@outlook.com

Domestic Violence Toolkit
Almost one in 10 Australian women in a relationship have experienced domestic violence during the coronavirus crisis, with two-thirds saying the attacks started or became worse during the pandemic.

OurWatch is a national leader in the primary prevention of violence against women and their children in Australia. They have developed a toolkit for Local Government which is supported by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.

Its clear is that gender inequality is the core of the problem, so gender equality must be the heart of the solution. There are roles for all of us to play in preventing violence against women – governments, communities, organisations and individuals.

Check out the toolkit here:
