STATEMENT:

"Only in the fantasyland of Connecticut could elected leaders want to dictate how a group of nuns can handle their sex life!"

Connecticut voters should beware if they think our state doesn't have enough control over their lives already. Today's press conference shows they want to reach into your bedroom and pocketbook at the same time.

Senator Blumenthal and Governor Lamont say they want to protect the rights of women to control their bodies. Nothing in today's ruling negates that. His position is to ensure the STATE has control over what women should believe even even when they go against a person's deeply held beliefs. As a US Senator, he should uphold the Constitution's right to practice one's religion - not only in one's home, but also their lives. A person's religion is part of their identity.

Discrimination
State Treasurer Sean Wooden claims today's ruling advances discrimination. To the contrary, today's lopsided 7-2 protects against discrimination. But his eyes are only on the abortion industry. The same industry that aborts 91% of all black babies in New York City. He must have missed the ouster of New York City's Planned Parenthood after treating black workers unfairly. While he points his finger at Washington, where was Treasurer Wooden in calling that out those injustices just down the road?

Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin further claims today's ruling discriminates against reproductive rights. We know that he's referring to his wish that abortion is offered to women anytime she seeks healthcare -even when they seek other options. Yet Bronin's own city council discriminates against pregnancy centers curtailing their free speech rights. Pregnancy Centers are the true options of choice for pregnant women where abortion isn't the only option.

Today's pro-choice leaders lost 7-2. They ignored any recognition that Connecticut residence have a right to practice their religion, to exercise free speech, and to decide for themselves how to spend their money on healthcare. Controlling all three is their Election year message.

Connecticut's elected leaders want to dictate how, when, where, and in what fashion residents make their reproductive choices - even going as far as forcing celibate nuns on a vow of chastity to pay for something they'll never use and is abhorrent to their faith.

Indeed, they want to tell nuns how to live their faith.
And today they vowed not stop there.

We're unfortunately not surprised. Connecticut has forced Catholic Hospitals to provide Plan B, which causes abortion. Gov. Malloy used taxpayer funds to renovate Planned Parenthood's headquarters in New Haven. And Gov Lamont has promised to use even more taxpayer funds to prop up Planned Parenthood as a virtual state agency. Where will it end? Don't we have higher priorities for our tax dollars?

Indeed, Planned Parenthood's Gretchen Raffa said "this isn't about abortion. Its about everything in healthcare." She referred to COVID. This state took it upon itself to provide all the testing and PPE to "protect" vulnerable residents in nursing homes form the virus. It failed. This is Connecticut's version of socialized healthcare, the very type struck down by the Supreme Court today. Should we entrust these leaders with even more of our healthcare than today?

We think not.
The abortion industry has funded the campaigns of these leaders.
In return, pro-choice leaders bless that industry with taxpayer funds and regulatory control over our healthcare.

Its time to elected pro-life leaders in Connecticut.
