Helås, Sweden

175,000 kr
($19,091 USD)

Gah! This is straight out of my rustic, Scandinavian dreams.

Next to the old small school in Helås is this charming home. The house has been empty for many years and previous owners have changed roofs and demolished the roof and sawdust for the attic. Here you will find beautiful mirror doors and rustic plank floors. Inside you can see traces of the old kitchen, the hall, the chamber, etc. Water, sewer, and electricity are missing. It is said that the house was built during the first half of the 19th century and be one of the houses that remained after the legal change in Halvås village.

Strone, Scotland

£125,000
($157,968 USD)

Waterfront!

Traditional upper villa with truly beautiful sea views from its shore-side location in the sought after village of Strone. ‘White Rock Villa’ boasts many original features and benefits by having four bedrooms, sitting room with dual aspect, dining kitchen with adjoining utility room, wet room and cloakroom and, externally, private gardens and outhouse with shared drying green and wash house. Further, the roof to the villa has been totally replaced within the last two years. This would make an ideal family, retirement or holiday home given its stunning location and close proximity to local amenities.

The picturesque village of Strone is surrounded by natural beauty with stunning views of the Holy Loch, Loch Long and the Firth of Clyde down to the Isle of Arran. The area is approximately eight miles from Dunoon and on the edge of Scotland’s First National Park.

There are two ferry links to Gourock with rail and coach links meaning that Glasgow city centre is little more than an hour away, with Glasgow Airport, Braehead Shopping Centre and Greenock even closer.

San Vito in Monte, Italy

€40,000
($45,270 USD)

The sweetest stone cottage for an even sweeter price.

Set just behind the main piazza of this little village, a pathway leads to this adorable, quaint, cozy “cottage”. There is a paved communal area that leads to a stone-walled private garden, this is main entrance to the property, via old wooden double doors. Enter into the open plan living, dining, and kitchen area. Lovely old stone walls, a traditional fireplace, tiled floors, the kitchen is situated to the left and has a stone tiled worktop. Very traditional with tiled and beamed ceilings, a really nice living space. Spiral stairs lead to the first floor, which at present is used as bedroom space, there is another lovely old fireplace ( although not in use, but could be made functional). To the left is what was the original entrance, making a nice feature, as the stairs lead down to the paved area outside, giving separate access to the upper floor if required.

San Vito in Monte is a small hillside village, 516 meters above sea level, in a stunning location, it may be a tiny village, but it has its own restaurant/bar just across the square from the house. There are many little festas held throughout the year, in the winter, a procession, and “Befana” visits, which is great fun.

This Folk Victorian is so charming!

This 5 bedroom 1 bathroom home would make the perfect property for a growing family in the beautiful community of Belfast, PE. Situated on the Trans Canada Highway, this home has had extensive work done to restore it and bring it back to its original beauty. This home was entirely insulated and had a propane furnace installed in 2015. Throughout the home, there was accent detail custom installed with weaved bamboo from Thailand. The staircase was built with Maple with accent finials from Thailand. Most of the trim and Boston headers are original to this home which is over 100 years old, but hand-carved rosettes from Thailand were installed as accents throughout the home. In the oversized living room with built-in storage, you will find a light fixture that was made from a fish trap imported from Indonesia. Outside, there is a 12' x 18' deck overlooking the backyard which has rose bushes, lilies, and an abundance of perennials. In addition, there is a 22' x 24' outbuilding that would make the perfect workshop or artisan gallery. This home is only a short walk to Cooper's Store where you can find pretty much anything you may need or want (gas, groceries, general merchandise, liquor).

This isn't within the price range, but it was so stunning I just had to share it! KITCHEN O' MY DREAMS.

Situated at the entrance of the village, overlooking the main square, stands this imposing, unique and historic house, approximately 800sqm. in total. Full of character, oozing traditional old Italian style, and what really makes this property extremely special are the various frescoes by Gerardo Dottori found throughout the house. High ceilings, large, high windows, each room offers something different, it’s the house that just keeps giving!

The vast terrace offers stunning views across the Umbrian countryside to the distant mountains, and views over the old terracotta tiled roofs, to the main piazza and the surrounding hills.

This unusual property requires some internal renovation, it could be divided into separate units for either residential or commercial use, for example, it could make a wonderful B&B, or a fabulous family home.

Cerqueto has a small bar/newsagents, supermarket, chemist and post office.  Marsciano, the nearest large town is approximately 5kms away, with large supermarkets, chemists, the weekly market, theatre, and many restaurants. Lake Trasimeno (Italy’s fourth-largest lake) approximate 25-minute drive.
