Special Friday treat for you!
We are doing a series this summer where I'm talking to authors about new books that I'm excited about in live Zoom chats. Today in the podcast feed, we're sharing an excerpt of the conversation I had a few weeks ago with writer Michael Arceneaux about his new essay collection, I Don't Want to Die Poor. You may remember Michael from the episode we did with him around the release of his first book, I Can't Date Jesus, and it was really good to hear what has happened in his life since and how he is making it through this time. One protip he offers: CBD-infused fizzy water. He likes the pomegranate hibiscus-flavored one from the brand Recess.
We are doing another live book conversation next week with Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman, hosts of the podcast Call Your Girlfriend, about their new book Big Friendship: How We Keep Each Other Close. I certainly have been thinking a lot about the strange and wonderful nature of friendships in adulthood during this time of isolation. They are important, and they take work, and I'm really excited Aminatou and Ann are giving these relationships the focus and attention they deserve. You can also send us your friendship-related questions at deathsexmoney@wnyc.org. Again, that conversation is Tuesday, July 14 at 4PM EST—mark your calendars and plan to watch here. We're talking on the day of their book's release, so IT WILL BE A PARTY.
