From the Desk of Pastor Perkins

July 9, 2020

Greetings to my First Baptist Family!

Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) issued an update indicating “that COVID-19 is spreading rapidly”. The county is currently on the California Department of Public Health’s monitoring list because of increasing numbers of patients in local hospitals. To ensure the health and safety of our members and community, First Baptist Church will delay the re-opening of our church until we feel it is safe to move forward.  Until then……We will continue to worship through online/virtual platforms.

Centennial Celebration
Centennial Caravan - Saturday, July 18, 2020 @ 11am. Join us as we say to the community, we are still alive and celebrating 100 years https://www.eventbrite.com/e/112032995706.....

Church Anniversary Worship Service – July 26, 2020, premiering at 8:00 am. We want to flood the airwaves with the gospel message preached by none other than our Special guest, Dr. Kerwin B. Lee from Berean Christian Church of Stone Mountain, GA.  Hallelujah!  Dr. Lee’s message will simultaneously broadcast on our YouTube channel, Facebook page, and FBC Website. How exciting is this! Even though we are disconnected physically, we will be on one accord sharing in the Word, lifting our Worship, and bonding in fellowship as a part of the Kingdom movement. We get to demonstrate to the world the marvelous things God continues to do because we are destined for Higher Heights!

Lastly, in celebrating God and 100 years of ministry, we are asking each member to contribute $100 toward the growth and continuation of the church movement #Matthew 28:19-20.  You can click on the “give” link at the top of this newsletter or use any of our other platforms.

Call to Action
While the cases of COVID-19 increase, so does the movement for social justice. I call upon the elders, those with wisdom, to identify young people within your sphere of influence, who may be “frustrated” with the current circumstances and sow into them Godly wisdom that inspires the strategies needed to be about change in our society.  History unveils when wisdom from the elders is matched with the energy from the young, transformation is inevitable.

I pray that while you continue to Trust The Lord, you will remain safe, healthy, and strong.

With His grace in mind,

Pastor Perkins
