Our faith teaches us that love is the answer to some of life's most difficult questions. Sometimes the most loving thing to do is not the easiest thing to do. That was the case when the West Side Board met this week for an emergency board meeting. At that meeting the board discerned that the most loving thing to do for everyone in the congregation was to continue online worship until COVID-19 cases in Shawnee County begin to decline.
As we continue to live with the coronavirus Dana and I plan to be in the office multiple times during the week. Next week I will be in the office on Monday and Tuesday and Dana will be in the office on Wednesday and Thursday. Please call in advance if there are things we can help you with at the church. That way we can make sure one of us is there.
The best way to reach Dana is by leaving a message on the office phone. The best way to reach Donna is by leaving a text message or voice message on her cell phone. (That number is in the church directory, but if you need it again you can e-mail Donna at dkgilch@gmail.com to receive it again.)
Our congregational meeting planned for July 12th has also been canceled. It has been rescheduled for July 26th at 11:30 a.m. in a Zoom meeting. At that meeting we will vote on our 2020-21 nominees, our 2020-21 budget, and a few bylaws changes. (You have already received notification of these changes in the mail. Please contact the church office if you need an additional copy.) There will be a Zoom tutorial planned next week. (Watch your e-mail for the link.) In that meeting Donna will be available online and by phone to help you with Zoom if it is new to you. If you are unable to access Zoom by computer or phone you can contact Dana in the church office and she will mail you a ballot for the July 26th meeting. That ballot will need to be postmarked by August 7th to be counted.
Our current board officers will remain in office until we've counted ballots on August 7th.
These are strange times, and we are learning to adapt in multiple ways. I am proud to be part of a congregation that is dedicated to putting the safety and health of congregants first while discerning ways to continue to be the church as you extend love into the community.
Please contact myself, Dana, or Jessica Schuette, your WSCC Moderator, if you have questions.
Blessings,
Donna
