Thought for the Week
Monday, 13th July 2020
At this time of transition, this week we offer you the words of the ‘Encouragement Prayer’ written for The Big Leavers Service which was recorded in a video by colleagues across the diocese and aired on Friday.

Our thoughts are with each and every person who is ‘stepping onward’ in their journeys at this time. We hope the words within the prayer give each of us food for thought as we reflect on times of change in our own lives, past or present.

Prayer of Encouragement
So this chapter on your journey is ending,
The next one is soon to begin!

You’ve had fun, you’ve had tears, you’ve had some marvellous years.
All that learning, all that growing, all those friendships that keep on going,
All that running, all that jumping, all that laughing while you’ve been playing.

You’ve grown strong roots, deep roots;
They’ve kept you grounded,
They’ve helped you to be the glorious you that you are!

But now the time has come to take the big next step,
to open a new exciting chapter ...to spread your wings and FLY!

So we want you to know
That inside you is a miracle!
And that the glorious, God-given you that you are is incredible!
That you are unique;
the only you there will ever be.
And that you are loved.

We want you to know that God is with you
And that you are never alone.

He has made you to shine
like a candle,
a candle’s burning flame,
You are ablaze - ablaze like a fire!
So, go on in your journey and shine,
Shine so bright!

You can do wonderful things,
you can bring hope, peace and joy.
So, go on in your journey and shine,
Shine so bright!

You can make a difference
through your actions,
your laughter,
the love and friendship you bring.
So, go on in your journey and shine,
Shine so bright!

And if there are times... when you get worried or scared,
or feel you need a friend …. and that you can shine no more…
Remember this…

That ‘The Light of the World’, Jesus, knows your name!
He loves you,
and will share his light with you.
So you can go on in your journey and shine,
Shine so bright!
'He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”' Matthew 13:31-32 (NIV)
