Globe Derby Park - Saturday 11th July 2020
Overview of meeting:

Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY
WESTAR SAM (9) has won five of his last eight starts and is going for four wins in a row tonight. He was a seven meter winner last week when he defeated ABSOLUTION. He has been extremely hard to fault recently and has been racing in career best form. He looks hard to beat tonight.
AREUOHKAY (2) is another horse going for four wins a row. Tonight is a step up in class but his recent form suggests he will be right in the finish.
OUT OF CHARACTER (3) was disappointing in his most recent start but his form before that was strong. He is worth consideration.
AVEROSS MAC (1), SOVEREIGNE BAY (10) and ILLAWONG GERRY (5) look the next best.

Race 2: HOPKINS SADDLERY PACE
AYEJAYEM (8) looks to be gradually returning to his best form. He was beaten by 2.6 metres behind FEELGOOD FEELING last week. He should be able to lob into a nice position off the second line. If he’s at his best he will be a strong winning chance.
BUBBLES AND CHEESE (5) returns from a lengthy spell tonight but he matches up well against this field. He has had the 31 career starts for 9 wins and 12 placings. If he is at his best he will be around the mark.
AH LA VITESSE (3) drops down in class tonight. She has won two of her last four. If she can get the right run into the race she will be right in the mix. She is worth strong consideration.
FEELGOOD FEELING (1) was a winner last week when she defeated CELESTIAL DAYBREAK by a half neck. She will find tonight a little tougher but she has the right draw to feature.

Race 3: ARCLIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY PACE
A very strong field has been assembled for this race.
GREY MAVERICK (6) found it a little tough to overcome the 20 metre handicap last week. He steps back to mobile conditions tonight. This is his third run back from a spell after two respectful runs over his last two starts. He looks ready to win tonight.
THE SPARROW HAWK (2) returns from a small break after defeating DONT TELL WILLIAM and REGAL SCRIBE in his most recent run. He is a talented horse with plenty of speed. He is worth strong consideration.
ELLMERS HOOFING IT (9) was a winner in his most recent start when he defeated DONT TELL ALICE by 9.1 metres. He is worth strong consideration tonight.
CANADA BAY (7), DONT TELL WILLIAM (1) and JULIUS FRANCO (4) are also chances.

Race 4: HYGAIN PACE
UNCLE LEO (10) returned to his best form last week when he defeated MANLY MACH by a solid 26.5 metres. Tonight is a little tougher but if he is at his best he will be hard to beat.
WHOEE JOHNSON (5) is a tough and honest horse who always tries hard. He will find this easier compared to recent starts. If he can lob into a nice position during the run he will be around the mark. He is worth strong consideration.
ABSOLUTION (7) and BIEN HOA (9) are also chances.

Race 5: DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP PACE
ALTHEGIRLSINMYLIFE (5) has been knocking on the door for a win over the last few weeks. She ran a narrow second behind AREUOHKAY last week. She looks poised to win tonight.
YANKEE CLIPPER (10) has been very consistent during his current preparation. If he brings his best tonight he will be right in the mix.
WHITE STAR VILLAGE (2) and VILLA BOY (7) are each way chances.

Race 6: BIANCO REINFORCING PACE
SIR ROMAN (1) has won three of his last four. He was a 14 metre winner last week when he defeated WHOEE JOHNSON in what was a very impressive performance. He looks extremely tough to beat from the inside draw tonight.
GOLDEN JAYLET (8) is worth each way consideration from that draw. If he lobs into a nice position he will run a cheeky race.
LUCKIE (6) and THE OCTAGON (2) look the next best.

Race 7: BRITISH WORKINGMENS CLUB PACE
CARTER MAYSON (2) steps up in class tonight but his recent form has been strong. He gets a nice draw tonight and he has won two of his last four.
TAKEMEPITCHAMISTER (4) returned to the winners list last week after defeating KARMIC FIRE by 1.3 meters. He has plenty of gate speed. If he moves into a forward position early he will be right in the mix.
DOUBLEDIPOFHEAVEN (7) and DONT TELL ALICE (6) look the next best.

Race 8: TRUMP BLOODSTOCK TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY
SUN VALLEY ROAD (1) was a winner off the front mark last week when be bowled along at a solid tempo to win quite easily. A repeat of that run will make him hard to beat again tonight.
FOURSHARESMOREBEERS (7) was a winner in his first SA run when he defeated SUN VALLEY ROAD off the 50 metre handicap. He comes off 60 meters tonight but he is still worth strong consideration based on his most recent run.
ROBBIE ZUVE (4) and TRUSCOTT HALL (2) look the next best.

Globe Derby Park - Monday 13th July 2020

Race 1: JIVE CAFE HOLLYWOOD PLAZA PACE
FRAGMENTAL (3) has run two strong placings over his last two starts. He has the gate speed to possibly lead today. Today is also a minor step down in class for him. He is worth strong consideration.
GROWLERS LAST (1) is having his second run back from a spell today. He was beaten by 8.9 metres after running home strongly in his first run back. He looks dangerous from the inside draw today.
FULL HAND (2) matches up well against this field and she does have the ability to feature if she gets the right run.
FALCONS BEAUTY (6) has had multiple chances to break her maiden over her career but is yet to do so. She deserves consideration but will find it tough from gate 6.

Race 2: JOHN ROTHE VIDEO 2YO PACE
STYLISH HEAVEN (4) is making her debut today. She has shown impressive signs at the trails. She was a 25 metre winner at the Globe Derby trials last week and ran a last half of 60.4. She has a nice turn of speed and has the ability to take this race out.
SOHO BOB (2) found it tough when he had to sit outside the leader during his first race start. He will be fitter for that run and he has shown ability at the trials. He is worth strong consideration.
ULTIMATE TROUBLE (6) and SPRINGFIELD AFFAIR (5) look the next best.

Race 3: BOTRA BONUSES DAY PACE
CEEBREEZ (1) has put in some decent efforts against tougher fields in recent weeks. She has the right draw to feature today and she will be right in the mix.
TINHORN (3) was a trial winner last week when be beat home TECTONIC. If gets the right run into the race he will be around the mark.
TECTONIC (2), EDDEE (5) and BIONIC FALCON (6) look the next best.

Race 4: HYGAIN FIBER PROTECT TROTTERS MOBILE
MILLYS MAGIC (4) was impressive last week when she defeated BOOS A BEAUTY by 6.2 metres. She can do things wrong but if she trots all of the way she will be tough to beat.
KYVALLEY KID (6) is well suited from the mobile start. He is another who can do things wrong but if he trots all of the way he will be right in the mix.
GLAD ALL OVER (1) and SUN VALLEY ROAD (5) are also chances.

Race 5: KEVIN & KAY SEYMOUR PACE
SURE BET SHANNON (1) has been a little unlucky in her last two starts. She doesn’t have a lot of gate speed but if she can get a nice run behind the leader she will be sprinting home over the concluding stages. She will be right in the finish.
ALTHEGIRLSINMYLIFE (6) has plenty of gate speed and she should be around the front early. She will be right in the mix.
APOLOGIZE (7), MISS ICONIC (3) and POWER SUPPLY (5) are also chances.

Race 6: HYGAIN TRACK TORQUE PACE
ABOVE AVERAGE (4) was a winner two starts back when he defeated DUSKHAWKER by 1.4 metres. He found it a little tough in his most recent run but today is a step back down in class. He has the gate speed to possibly lead. He will be right in the mix.
HESA BIT DIFFERENT (9) has been around the mark in a majority of his recent starts. He was a winner back on the 23rd of June when he defeated THE QUEEN OF HEART by 5.1 metres. He should be right in the finish today.
WE WILL SOUND (2) and LITTLE GROWL (1) are the next best.

Race 7:  TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE
BELLA SOFIA (3) struggled to find the lead in her most recent run and had to face the breeze for a majority of the race. She should be able to find the front today and if she does lead she will be tough to beat.
JAGGED SHADOW (4) brings the best numerical form into the race. If she can lob into a nice position during the run she will be right in the finish.
BIEN HOA (7) and FLASHING GOOD TIME (2) look the next best.

Race 8: DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP PACE
LOMA JACCKA (8) has won two of her last five. She has the tricky second row draw to overcome today but she is good enough to beat this field. She will take some beating if she gets the right run.

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

Stewards would like to take this opportunity to remind all participants of AHRRule 248 which stipulates:
A person shall not say, publish or write or cause to be said, published or written anything malicious, intimidatory or otherwise improper about the Controlling Body, its members and employees or the Stewards or anyone else associated with the harness racing industry.
The Stewards firmly remind all participants of the need to be mindful of any content or comments they elect to put on any social media platform, Stewards will not tolerate unacceptable commentary directed at the Controlling Body, its members, employees, the Stewards or any one associated with the Harness Racing Industry. Failure to adhere to these expectations will result in significant penalties being imposed.
WHIP USE

At the recent “Integrity Conference” conducted by Harness Racing Australia (HRA) it was made clear that whip use continues to be a major concern to the HRA Executives and animal welfare groups alike. Harness Racing Australia and the Executives have made it clear that unless the whip is used in accordance with the recent whip rule amendments, then there would be an expectation that whips would be banned altogether.

The amended whip rule 156(2)(a) now stipulates: A driver shall only apply the whip in a wrist only flicking motion whilst holding a rein in each hand with the tip of the whip pointed forward in an action which does not engage the shoulder.

The rule now has a sub-section that gives an explanation of how the whip is to be used, which must be adhered to, part (b) stipulates: For the purpose of sub-paragraph (a), “wrist only flicking motion” means-
(i) Ensuring no force is generated by the use of the elbow or shoulder when applying the whip
(ii) The forearm is not raised beyond forty-five degrees relative to the racing surface.
(iii) Not applying the whip with overt force.

Stewards intend to police the whip rules stringently, to ensure compliance, so that whips will be permissible in the foreseeable future. As of the 1st of July 2020 there will no longer be reprimands or suspended fines for a breach of any of the whip rules. The new penalty structure will be as follows:

First Offence: $100.00 fine
Second Offence: $250.00 fine
Third Offence: Suspension of your drivers licence.
A further breach would see the suspension of your licence increase.
At the completion of two calendar months a driver’s record will be cleared, any breach beyond that timeframe would be considered their first offence.

Whilst we have seen improvement over time, in the way the whip is used, it is imperative that drivers strive to minimise the focus surrounding the use of whips in harness racing, so it has never been more important that drivers are diligent with respect to their whip use.

INDUSTRY NOTICE
Email/Mail Out Requesting Retired and Deceased Information

Harness Racing Australia has recently conducted a mail/email out requesting updated information on horses considered ‘inactive’.
In this case the definition of ‘inactive’ comprises of horses aged 4 years and older which have not raced or bred in the past 2 years.
If you are listed as the Managing Owner of a horse that falls within this category you will receive an email (or postal letter if your email address is not on file) detailing the horses in your care that require updating.
The process can be completed online in HarnessWeb or via a downloadable paper form.
The notification of any movements of horses including retirement and death is covered under the AHRR and penalties can be applied for not providing information or for providing incomplete or fraudulent information.
This mail out forms part of a larger strategy that HRA, along with all state,s are implementing to expand equine traceability throughout the industry and to safeguard its greatest assets - the horses.
Any questions regarding this process can be directed to Carolyn McCusker, Registration Officer - cmccusker@saharmess.org.au or 82850737.
