Innovation Agency newsletter 2020
JulyAugust 2020 newsletter
Dear colleague,

We have seen huge changes in the way we deliver health and care services and it makes me feel very proud to be part of a community which responds with compassion and urgency across geographical and organisational boundaries. There is value in all our roles, whether we are part of the public sector, businesses, voluntary bodies or an individual.

Our shared wish is that this joined-up, open approach continues and that we can build on the strengthened partnerships as well as the innovations and new ways of working.

We have seen many acts of compassion in our own organisation, with staff looking out for each other and helping out of hours in their own local communities – and we know this is replicated across the region and nationally; it is truly heart-warming and humbling.

Let’s try and hold onto this heightened sense of community as we ‘reset’ our services for the future – a theme I expand on in my latest blog.

Yours,
Liz

Our support to partners re COVID-19

The work of the Innovation Agency continues to support our local systems to meet the challenges created by the pandemic. This includes a focus on curating successful innovations in mental health, pulmonary rehabilitation and CVD; and providing coaching and improvement programmes.

Innovation Agency Exchange

The latest products selected for inclusion on our Innovation Agency Exchange website include the following which are particularly relevant during the pandemic:

Rehab Guru – an exercise tool for prescribing by physiotherapists and clinicians in the community, without the need for physical contact.

Elevated Body Temperature Detection Thermographic CCTV – can identify people displaying a raised body temperature, allowing discreet monitoring of people entering and moving around facilities.

Woundworks – combines precise camera technology with artificial intelligence and machine learning to transform a smart device into a digital wound management platform.

COVID-19 research across North West Coast

The Innovation Agency, Lancashire and South Cumbria SEED Health Alliance and the NIHR ARC North West Coast are contributing to a system-wide COVID-19 lessons learned programme, by gathering data from people across the region and evaluating responses to make recommendations for  future practice. This will complement a significant amount of work being undertaken by all organisations.
