National Summer Learning Week Highlights


Summer is more important than ever given families are struggling to keep kids engaged in learning and summer providers are adapting to COVID-19 realities. Now that we have wrapped up National Summer Learning Week, we want to highlight two programs, Manchester Craftsmen's Guild and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. They are making sure students remain engaged and connected this summer through their virtual summer sessions. Take a peek at the young people exploring various art forms. 

 



Tools for Conversations About School Reopening Plans


Afterschool Alliance created a set of Tools for Programs & Networks to Engage in Conversations About School Reopening Plans to help ensure afterschool programs are at the planning table and included in schools' reopening strategies. As states release guidelines for the upcoming school year, principals and local leaders will drive decisions about how schools reopen and how they work with their afterschool partners. This means that collaboration between out-of-school time and in-school time is more important than ever.Check out Afterschool Alliance’s tools here

 


Reunite, Renew and Thrive: Social and Emotional Learning Roadmap of Reopening School


CASEL and its partners produced a new document to help school leaders and educators prepared for re-opening during these turbulent times. Reunite, Renew, and Thrive: Social and Emotional Learning Roadmap for Reopening School focuses on relationships and builds on the existing strengths of school communities -- including out-of-time school providers.

Teaching Tolerance: Grants that educate youth to thrive in a diverse democracy. Deadline: Rolling
Book Bank: New and donated books and resources. Deadline: Rolling. 
Pittsburgh Foundation: is establishing an emergency action fund for nonprofits. More info to come as they release details. Deadline: TBD
Emergency Fund for Artists: potential $500 support from GPAC for artists at a loss of income due to coronavirus. More emergency arts funding resources here. Deadline: Rolling
Peace First: $250 grants to youth 13-25 for projects developed to address community response to COIVD-19. Deadline: Rolling
Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Artist and Administration Support Small Grants: $250 grants. Deadline: Ongoing 
Youth-Led COVID-19 Human Services Initiative Grants: $2,500-$10,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing 
Trans Community Support During COVID Crisis Grants: Up to $10,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing
Girls and Gender Expansive Youth of Color Support Grants: Up to $25,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing
Social Justice Grassroots Organization Support During COVID Crisis Grants: About $1,000 grants. Deadline: Ongoing

Pittsburgh Learning Collaborative

The Pittsburgh Learning Collaborative is launching a family hotline. The family hotline will field calls to answer questions and offer support to families as they navigate their academic and personal needs of their household.
