1. "How to Track, Measure, and Communicate the Flow of Plastic Waste in the Environment"

Join leaders in plastics research and public engagement for this virtual event sponsored by the Program on Plastics, Ecosystem, and Public Health (PEPH) at Northwestern University.

Learn about active and emerging techniques used to track and measure plastic leakage into freshwater systems around the world. Consider how to find and support interventions including upstream solutions for policy and industry. The program will begin with speaker presentations, followed by an opportunity for guided dialogue for speakers and participants.

2. Job Opening: Community Science Specialist for the Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM)

Dickinson College is hiring a Community Science Specialist who coordinates ALLARM's monitoring programs and partnerships and works with volunteers in Pennsylvania and New York who are interested in watershed health.

Salary: $32,000 - $34,000, with amazing benefits. This position is funded by external grants, current funding in place supports this position through December 2021.

4. Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans annually supports thirty New Americans–immigrants or the children of immigrants–who are pursuing graduate school in the United States. The application for the 2021 Fellowship is now open. The application deadline is October 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm ET.

5. Universities Space Research Association (USRA) Scholarships

USRA offers scholarships to undergraduates who have shown a career interest in aeronautics or space research related fields, or in space science education.  Eligible majors include aerospace engineering, astronomy, astrobiology, biophysics, computer science, earth science, electrical & mechanical engineering (with application to aerospace or space science), geophysics, geology, mathematics, physics, and space science education.
 
Awards are made to undergraduates who will be juniors or seniors in the fall.  Up to four scholarships will be awarded, in the amount of $5,000 each.    

Learn more and apply by August 7, 2020. Applications will be reviewed with consideration to circumstances arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Committee on Solid Earth Geophysics invites you to attend a webinar with scientists documenting global changes to the environment due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Register for the free presentations on July 14 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. CT.
 

7. Semester in Environmental Science (SES) - Marine Biological Laboratories (MBL)

Northwestern University has long-standing coordination with this powerful, hands-on, combined field/lab/computational, interdisciplinary program. The MBL makes extensive use of the coastal marine environment literally  surrounding campus for classes and your student-led research projects. Ideal applicants have completed their chemistry sequence and at least some biology. Based on our formal collaboration with this program, we also have an excellent history of returning credits, including with counting to Advanced Studies to the Environmental Science major. 8. Climate XChange Fellowships

Climate XChange is currently hiring for their fellowship program. As a fellow, students have the chance to conduct state-specific research, provide media coverage, and bring new stakeholders into the conversation. While doing so, fellows have the chance to take initiative and start their own projects as they see fit.  Learn more and apply.
 

9. GESI 2020: Virtual Global Development in Action

Applications are now open for the fall 2020 GLO program, GESI 2020: Virtual Global Development in Action. Through this unique program, students will have the opportunity to explore critical questions related to community development work while simultaneously engaging in a meaningful internship—all in a completely virtual format.
 
Program highlights:

  • Earn two academic credits
  • Intern virtually with a community-based nonprofit
  • Learn about development in a global context

10. AmeriCorps Members for Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP)

SNAP AmeriCorps Members serve 11 months with a Sierra Nevada, CA environmental nonprofit or agency. Members conduct and lead watershed restoration projects, do ecological monitoring, conduct environmental education and outreach, and recruit and manage volunteers, as well as participate in career development and training. Learn more and apply by July 24.
 

11. COVID-19 Public Health Trainings

UIC’s Policy, Practice and Prevention Research Center has identified trainings that will help those interested in supporting COVID-19 public health efforts. People can create an account in Public Health Learning where they can complete courses and document your training in one place. As future trainings are identified and/or created we will include them in the learning management system and make them available to you.
 
12. University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences

Applications are open for the Master of Professional Science degree at the University of Miami. Within this degree, instead of writing a thesis/dissertation, you do an field research or an internship. This program has rolling admission until July 25th for domestic students. They are waiving the GRE for Fall 2020 only.
 
13. Woodrow Wilson Graduate School of Teaching & Learning

Interested in teaching and shaping the future? The Woodrow Wilson Graduate School of Teaching & Learning offers the Trustee Fellowship to cover all tuition costs for aspiring teachers.
 
14. Fulbright

Interested in teaching English abroad? Become a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, and choose from 80 countries with institutions ranging from elementary to university-level language departments. Applicants may only apply to one country, must be US citizens, and must hold a undergraduate degree by the time the fellowship begins. Northwestern University's campus deadline is September 8th.
