Psalm 40
I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
He has put a new song in my mouth—
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the LORD.

A New Song
We are singing a “new song” to the Lord this morning. The Lord has blessed this old church time and time again over our 307 years, has He not? I think especially of that time in the mid-1960’s when the leadership of this church actually met together in a restaurant in Ipswich to deliberate whether they should shut the doors of this church and decided to give it one last try. Fifteen years later, the church was bursting at the seams and God chose to do an amazing work through this church.

And He has continued to do so through the years since. Now, with the occasion of the coming of our new pastor, Jeremy McKeen, we have an opportunity to sing a new song of God’s faithfulness once again. We have waited patiently for three years for his arrival and God has, indeed, heard our cry. We look forward to how He will once again “set our feet upon a rock,” and “establish our steps” for a new season of faithful witness on the north shore of Hamilton.

Thanks be to God for a terrific search committee and an amazing staff who has patiently waited for God to do a good work in us. Thanks especially to those who have filled in the pulpit over these three years, in particular Dr. Sean McDonough and Pastor Kevin who have stepped up to the plate on a monthly basis. And, there have been others as well. Sing to the Lord a “new song.”

Father,
Every morning we wake up to a new song of Your faithfulness. Thank you for yet another occasion to sing praise to your wonderful faithfulness to us as a church and to us personally. Through the work of Your Son, Amen.
