GEAR UP MAINE DIGEST
A monthly newsletter (separate from the GUME bulletin) sent only to GEAR UP Maine CAT Team members, focused on GEAR UP Maine team tasks, important dates and info, and celebrations
June-July MUST DO's
CAT TEAM:
  • Read Mary Callan’s COVID- 19 weekly updates (that are sent each Friday) for professional development, grant updates, and Department of Education updates.
DATA STEWARDS:
End of Yr6 Data Tasks Were Due June 30th 2020. If the following tasks are not yet completed, please reach out to Alyssa@syntiro.org asap.
Quarter 3 & Quarter 4 tasks: 
  • Add enrollment (February-June)
  • Exit students (February-June)
  • Identify new GU eligible students (February-June)
  • Complete Services in SCRIBE (February-June)
  • Complete 2020 graduate data
  • Complete senior exit data
  • Complete exits for ALL students - end of year 
  • Complete unexcused absences (10+ from BOY- March 15th only)
  • Verify Summer services are in SCRIBE (if applicable)
  • Course List Update - Inform data assistant of any AP or Dual enrollment/early college courses
  • Complete SY 19-20 grades
Any unfinished tasks from Quarter 1 or Quarter 2 also need to be corrected and complete by June 30th 2020. 
IMPORTANT INFO
Yr 7 Contracts
Yr 7 contracts be coming out in the beginning of July - thanks to all of you who worked so hard in completing the year 7 action plans and who met with GU Maine for the Year 6 1:1 district meetings 

Professional Development
For districts interested in the following yr 6 professional development, please be on the lookout for more information that will be coming out within the next few weeks: 

  • Remote learning 

  • Social emotional support for students

  • 8-9 transition

  • Summer melt - Information about colleges and universities in Maine on GUMaineScholars Instagram

DATA SPLASH
The FAFSA completion rate as of May 1, 2020 is 55% for GEAR UP high schools in Maine. The state percentage is 57.04%.
