Notice To All Residents:

Community Update

Dear Resident(s),

Good Afternoon and Happy Wednesday!

We hope everyone has a safe and celebratory 4th of July weekend!

Other States are experiencing terrible second waves of COVID-19. There is reasonable fear NYC will also experience a second wave because our neighbors are pushing the limits. Gateway needs to do its part and follow the rules. Now is not the time to become complacent. This week, we are asking that everyone recommit to complying with local and state regulations. In order to continue to flatten the curve and not see the dangerous second wave other states are experiencing, we must recommit to Face Coverings, Social Distancing, and Frequent Washing of Hands

Face Coverings: It is essential that when within interior common areas of Gateway that you wear a face covering. The location with the biggest problem is currently the laundry rooms. All residents, employees, and guests must comply with the face covering requirements. Wearing a mask on your chin is not acceptable or effective. Face coverings needs to be worn consistently and completely.

Elevator Use: As a reminder, only 4 adults should occupy an elevator at a time. If the elevator has 4 people, kindly wait for the next one. It will protect you and your neighbors! When in an elevator, you must use a face covering.

Smoking: Smoking anywhere in Gateway's interior or exterior common areas is prohibited. This includes the North Lawn and Roof Terrace. We will be posting additional No Smoking signage in common areas as a reminder. Security and building staff have been directed to keep a closer eye on the situation.

Dog Etiquette: Reminder: you must curb your dog outside of the Gateway grounds. If your dog has an accident inside of a Gateway building, please let your doorman know so we can get things cleaned up in a timely manner.

Bicycle Thefts: There has been a rash of bicycles stolen from the exterior areas of Gateway. If you have a bike stored anywhere onsite, we recommend you check that your bike is still secured. It seems the heavy-duty U-bolts are the most effective against theft. The stolen bikes all had a cable-style lock. We are working with the NYPD to see if we can identify the individual(s) responsible for the stolen bicycles.

The Gateway Roof Terrace and North Lawn outdoor areas are open. When using these areas, it is imperative that we all follow the rules below as well as those posted at each location. In order for the spaces to remain open, we have to collectively do better. We understand the temptation to relax and enjoy the fresh air and lovely weather, but the health and safety of our community has to come first.

When using the Roof Terrace and North Lawn, please:
  • No Ball Playing or Sports Activities – anything more than a yoga mat in a small remote area is considered non-compliance.
  • No Personal Trainers or extensive exercise/workout routines
  • No Dogs/Pets
  • One more time, No Sport Activities
  • Tables, Chairs, and Benches set up on the turf should remain on the turf. This furniture is spaced for social distancing and should not be moved.
  • Gatherings of more than five people in one group is prohibited. Don’t move tables or chairs to create a group gathering of more than FIVE people. The Gateway community must continue to do its part to allow these openings to be a success. Compliance with CDC, NYC & Gateway regulations are essential. Respect for your neighbors and the use of common sense is equally important.
  • And just once more, please, No Sports Activities

Roof Terrace: Open Monday - Friday from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Wifi is gateway100
North Lawn: Opening Monday - Friday from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Wifi is gateway400
Weekend and Holiday Hours for both areas are 10:00am to 8:00pm

Building 355 Bicycle Room: For improved security we have recently installed a new combination lock on this door. Please ask your doorman for the combination or email maintenance@gatewayny.com

Maintenance Items
  • Air Conditioners:  It is important to maintain clean filters in your apartment air conditioners. The filters pull out from the top area of the cover. These filters can be cleaned in the sink with water and a paper towel. It is okay to put the filter back if it is wet. It is also important to make sure there is no furniture or personal belongings within two feet of the air conditioner. If you would like to set up an appointment to clean your air conditioner filters please contact Gateway management. This service will take about 15 minutes.
  • Elevator Reservations: If you need an elevator for a special use like moving or receiving new furniture it is very important that you make a reservation. Please make an appointment at least two weeks prior to the date you are requesting. The best way to make an appointment is to email us directly at maintenance@gatewayny.com

Community Reminder

Please join us tonight at 7:00pm as we continue to honor our Healthcare, FDNY, NYPD, and all frontline professionals. Wednesday nights are extra special at Gateway, as in addition to our front-line workers we honor each other. The Gateway Community has been uniquely kind and thoughtful during this crisis. We know it has not been easy for anyone, and we are grateful for the outpouring of generosity, compassion, and overall sense of community.

Building Operations Update

Gateway building staff continues to hold up well. We greatly appreciate the continued kind words and gestures directed toward the Gateway building staff. The building staff continues to focus on frequent daily cleanings of all high touch areas. We have ample protective equipment for all building staff, and a very good supply of hand sanitizer, medical grade disinfectants and bleach products to help us complete increased cleaning of all high-touch surfaces and common areas. We continue to hire outside contractors to perform special cleanings.

The Club at Gateway Update

We are currently working on a re-opening plan. More details will be released in the coming weeks- we are getting close! Once NYC allows health clubs to open, the Club at Gateway will be ready. Modifications are in the works to ensure a safe workout environment.

Gateway Pool Update
We are making preparations to open the Gateway Pool Unless NYC changes the guidelines, we expect to open the pool around July 15th. The pool will be limited to 36 chairs and 46 people in order to comply with CDC and state recommendations. We will set up three or four sessions each day so multiple individuals can use the pool We will likely be using an online reservation system. More details will be announced next week.
