With the support of the state peak bodies in Tasmania, South Australia & NSW, Oysters Australia is trialling the production of a bimonthly National Oyster Report.
The aim of the report is to increase transparency, providing an insight into market conditions and farming environments across the southern oyster producing states. It aims to build on the farm gate price information that some Tasmanian & South Australian growers have been feeding into The Filter newsletter over the last couple of years. This market snapshot will gather information on:
- Farm gate price
- Relative production compared to 2 months ago
- Meat weight of plate-grade oysters (being trialled as a proxy for condition)
- Recent environmental conditions and their influence on growth, conditions, mortality
If farmers could please compete this collection form by Tuesday 7th July, it would be much appreciated. Note that this is open to farmers only, and relies on accurate data to be useful. Please be honest with your figures - all data collected is anonymous with numerical data presented as averages, minimums & maximums.
