Good News!

Deptford X are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded further funding to support our organisation. We are honoured to be in a position to continue supporting artists, delivering programming, and nurturing our community during these difficult times. Watch this space for the announcement of our newest programming strand and further Support Network sessions.

Thanks to the Creative Workspace Resilience Fund supported through the Mayor of London’s Culture at Risk Business Support Fund and the Creative Land Trust, we are able to extend significant studio rental discounts to our tenants at Brookmill Studios until the end of 2020 and set up a small hardship fund for tenants to access beyond this time. The initial Emergency Response Fund grant that we received from Arts Council England enabled us to offer reduced studio rents as of April this year but thanks to this new funding we are now in a position to continue to support our artist tenants until 2021.

The second grant we have been awarded is from the London Community Response Fund via the City Bridge Trust. Our funding was awarded as part of the ‘Delivering Differently’ grant programme and has enabled us to extend our programming for Deptford X Online and ensure appropriate remuneration for all of our contributors. Further programming to be announced soon. With thanks to this funding we are now also able to offer BSL interpretation for all of our online sessions if required.

Congratulations

We are pleased to announce that after a very long deliberation we have selected six artists for our Artists on the Phone project in collaboration with Voluntary Services Lewisham's Telephone Befriending scheme.

This project will see our artists being paired with a service user living in the Lewisham area for a 1:1 participatory art project. Through a series of conversations, the artists and service users will create work that we hope to share with you at next year's Deptford X Festival.

The artists are:

Lucie MacGregor
Anne Grimwade
Yasmin Ali
Jamie Greenly
Lily Ash Sakula
Lydia Julien

Gospel Green

Last month we closed the Gospel Green label competition with a very impressive set of designs and we're thrilled to announce that our three finalists are:

Tiz Creel
Ella Daniel-Lowe
Georgie Cornish

All three artists joined Deptford X and Gospel Green owner Brock Bergius, on a virtual tour of the orchard in Hampshire and they are now heading back to the drawing board to put the finishing touches to their designs. We hope to share the winning design with you all next week!

In the meantime you can view all of the entries over on our website.

We were really excited  to hear the fantastic news that former Deptford X artist Shawanda Corbett and former DX panelists Oreet Ashery and Imran Perretta were nominated to receive £10K Turner Prize money each. Huge congratulations from all of us at Deptford X to them and the other 7, brilliant, artists.

And yes, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind you all that
Shawanda's Support Network session is next Wednesday! There’s still a couple of places left to join this Turner Prize winning artist for an intimate group mentoring session on developing relationships with galleries. ⠀

Anyone interested in attending can register directly via Eventbrite, you can only attend ONE session, so please choose the session you want carefully. You can view information on each session and session leader via our website and select which would be most suitable for you.

We can provide BSL interpretation for these sessions. Please get in touch with us if you would like us to arrange this for you, or if you have any other access needs.
Just give us a minimum of four days notice so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

If you need any advice on the best session to pick you can also contact us via email on:
