Kudos

Congratulations to Dr. Steven Drews, Canadian Blood Services' associate director of microbiology, who was awarded just over $1M from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research's rapid research funding competition in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Drews' project is titled "Population-based seroprevalence of prior infection with COVID-19 in Canada: implications for testing, economic revitalization and population health."

Dr. Drews' research project was highlighted by the University of Alberta in an article, "U of A researcher to test whether COVID-19 antibodies provide long-term immunity."

Congratulations to Canadian Blood Services senior scientist Dr. Jason Acker. He was selected by the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry as the winner of a Tier 1 Basic Science Mentoring Award, in recognition of his outstanding performance in the mentoring of research trainees.
