PASTORS CORNER

In anticipation of those who would travel to Jerusalem for future religious gatherings, David said, “I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the Lord.” (Psalm 122:1) As David shared these words the temple had not yet been built; Solomon his son would have the sacred responsibility of constructing the temple in the future. David envisioned a time when both the community (“when they said”) and the individual (“I was glad”) would worship in Jerusalem. He looked forward to worshippers going into the house of the LORD. I too, share David’s excitement and joy when thinking about the return to corporate worship once again at College Park Church (CPC). Before this wish of returning to CPC can become a reality, I would like for us to notice two key words found later in Psalm 122, the words are “peace and security” (verse 6). Before the reopening of our church can take place we must make sure that we do everything within our power to provide a safe and secure experience for individuals who worship as well as the community that surrounds our place of worship and is home to where our membership work, live, and play.

With the above mentioned said, a re-opening sub-committee has submitted a detailed report to the Church Board which in turn accepted the report and subsequently submitted it to the Ontario Conference for approval. The report suggests a soft re-opening date of August 15, 2020 for a group of fifty worshippers followed by a larger number of worshippers scheduled for September 5, 2020. These dates are tentative proposals that are subject to change according to up-dated medical reports, Ministry of Health updates, Provincial reopening Guidelines and the blessing of the Ontario Conference. Over the next month information and plans will be shared via the church newsletter and the church website to prepare us for a time when we can worship together and be glad once again within the walls of God’s Sanctuary.

RECIPE

1/4 c. flour (any kind you have available should work, including gluten-free)
1 Tbsp oil (whole wheat and GF flours require an overflowed tablespoon)
1 Tbsp. water (a bit less for white all-purpose flour)
Pinch of salt

Mix together in a bowl or snack-size zippered bag (not sandwich size). Allow to sit for 10 minutes before rolling out evenly inside the baggie. Cut through the side and bottom seams to open baggie like a book. Flip over onto parchment paper or foil. Cut with knife into the desired number of pieces. Prick each piece with a fork. Bake in 400* oven for about 12 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Cool on a rack. Outer pieces may be done before center pieces. You can separate them and continue to bake until center pieces are done.
