UPCOMING EXHIBITION

'Tangled Up in Blue, Black, White and Grey'

Our newest Back Gallery exhibition will be open for viewing on Tuesday, July, 28.

"With no option to visit the warmer parts of the earth this winter because of Covid travel bans we might find ourselves turning to the austere beauty of our islands coated in winter snows. For our Back Gallery show we have selected a number of photos and paintings that celebrate the blues, blacks, whites and greys of a time when even the warmer summer sun shuts down somewhat. There can be a meditative beauty in this time of austerity."
- Craig Potton

The Back Gallery Exhibition is open from 10am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 2pm on Saturday.
Free entry.

NGA MANU WINTER LECTURE SERIES 2020
'FINDING THE WILD'
Craig recently spoke at a sold out lecture entitled, 'Finding the Wild', as part of the Nga Manu Winter Lecture 2020 series held at Nga Manu Nature Reserve in Wellington. Organiser Jean Fleming says the event was a huge success with a packed house and attendees treated to a kiwi encounter afterwards. Photo: Bottom right; Craig Potton and his daughter Bella with two of Sir Charles Flemings daughters, Mary McEwen (middle) and Jean Fleming (right). Sir Charles was a conservationist colleague of Craigs in the fight to save our native forests. Craig later published a book that Mary had written on her father entitled, 'Environmental Patriot: A Biography of Sir Charles Fleming'.

- Behind The Scenes -
From camera to gallery- and the bits in between - we couldn't do what we do without the expert handling and magic touch of the teams at PCL Imaging and Nelson City Framers.

To the left we have the lovely Sheridan from PCL Imaging in Auckland expertly handling Craigs image 'Mouth of the Awaroa' after printing it on Cotton Rag paper and getting it ready for sending. And to the right we have Luke Dell from Nelson City Framers in Halifax Street, Nelson, putting the finishing touches to his framing and getting the image ready for the gallery to pick up and for you to view!

Both of these businesses are an integral part of the process here at Craig Potton Gallery and if you wish to get in contact with them you can follow the links provided:

A Sense of Place

Craig frequently walks the family dogs in his local Branford Park. It was here he saw a plaque on this tree stating that it was planted in 1952 - the same year Craig was born - putting him firmly in his place!
